The Wizard of Odds runs through the Warrnambool card for the best best ahead of Thursday racing.
A first starter in race one is one of his best of the day and he is bullish on a progressive stayer in race four.
Warrnambool Race 1
#7 Playing it safe
Three-year-old filly Playing It Safe showed a nice amount of ability in her second jumpout to suggest she can her maiden on debut.
She jumped well from her barrier in an 800-metre Stawell jumpout and came under rider her rider beautifully when being asked to settle out of the speed battle.
She was then pulled out to run three wide and angled up the middle into the straight to win the jumpout under a light riding.
Looked a very good educational jumpout and it will hold her in good stead for this.
Suggested Bet: Playing It Safe each-way $5 the win and $2.35 the the place (No Third Dividend)
Warrnambool Race 4
#4 Darwin's Theory
Darwin’s Theory did not get away from us on debut when tipping him each-way at a nice price.
He ran third in a Coleraine maiden over 1400 metres and was doing his best work in the last little bit of the race.
His jumpouts were quite hidden as he looked quite dour in them and this rise in distance to 1700 metres looks ideal.
Patrick Payne has opted to give him a 1000-metre jumpout to get him revved up for this race.
This four-year-old gelding looks a real staying type and should go close to winning this.
Suggested Bet: Darwin’s Theory each-way at $5 the win and $2.15 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Quinella – 1 & 4
warrnambool race 5
#7 House Spouse
Going for the Patrick Payne race-to-race double and tipping House Spouse on top.
He stepped up to Class One grade last start over 1300 metres after winning his maiden on a heavy 10 by 6.2 lengths.
His five weeks between runs just may have taken its toll in a four-horse race when he started a $1.3 favourite and had to sit and sprint.
That slow early tempo and sprinting style does not like to be his style.
This race looks like it will run at a more genuine tempo and that will assist our chances.
Payne has wasted no time to get him up in distance immediately and that should serve him well here given his ability to race closer to the speed as seen at Bendigo last start.
Suggested Bet: House Spouse win at $3.4
Warrnambool Race 6
#2 Bowing
Bowing showed good improvement despite having a gap between runs last start.
The blinkers seem to have done the drink with getting this galloper back into form.
He had the blinkers applied for the first time two starts ago, was very heavily backed in BM-64 grade over 1600 metres, but just failed to let down on the heavy surface.
His effort on August 5 behind the progressive Rudhyar is good enough to win a race of this calibre.
Jockey Jarrod Fry also returned from injury with a winner earlier this week to show he has got his eye in.
Suggested Bet: Bowing each-way at $5 the win and $2 the place.
