Sandown Park Greyhound Tips & Previews, Thursday 19th August

Tips and previews from the big Thursday night card at Sandown Park.

Sandown Park takes centre stage for Thursday night greyhound racing.

The best bets ahead of a mammoth 12-race program.

Sandown Park Race 1

#5 Curator

Curator is endeared with enough talent to win a race of this nature with ease.

He usually produces his surge mid-race, so he will need room early in this event.

There does look to be a bit of pace either side of him, but he has shown an ability to jump quickly from the boxes when on song.

He is a brave, consistent dog who has not run a bad in his career to date and if he gets the breaks early in this race, he will be winning.

Too hard to ignore his winning effort here back on July 18 when running a slashing 29.30 on his way to an 11-lengeth triumph.

Suggested Bet: Curator win at $3.4

Sandown park race 3

#3 Dr Xander

Dr Xander scorched along Sandown Park in his trial run last week.

He, alongside the odds-on favourite, has had just over a month between runs, which leaves some queries on whether or not he will be at his best.

The fact he showed very good speed in his trial and has had less of a break than his main danger Shima Punga is where his advantage lies.

Expecting him to start much shorter than the price he currently is.

Suggested Bet: Dr Xander win at $3.5

Suggested Exotic: Exacta 3 & 1

Sandown Park Race 4

#2 Going Alright

We were in the corner of Going Alright last start and we will favour her again in this race.

She races on the five-day back up after running well at Sandown Park on Saturday behind a smart winner called Hazey Roy.

Probably found herself a shade unlucky in that run after being squeezed from the middle box and getting buffeted at a critical part of the race.

She still showed great determination to fight on and run third.

Box two will suit her much better than where she drew last start with her record when donning the white and black rug reading a win and minor placing from three starts.

With a clean getaway, she can a nice race at each-way odds.

Suggested Bet: Going Alright each-way at $6 the win and $2.8 the place

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 1, 2/ 1, 2, 6/ 1, 2, 6

Sandown Park Race 9

#3 Keep It Blue

Keep It Blue drops back to Grade 5 class after running in heat and non-graded races at his last handful of starts.

The Angela Langton-trained chaser has simply been outclassed at her last three runs behind Qwara Bale and Aston Fastnet who amongst the most in-form dogs in Australia.

This is a much easier race than what he has been contesting and he has the early speed to burn across from box three.

Even if he does not find the lead early, he should be able to follow Mepunga Katie into the race and prove too strong late.

If he does find the lead, however, they will not be running him down.

Suggested Bet: Keep It Blue win at $3.2

Sandown Park Race 10

#1 Family Trust

Family Trust has been racing consistently well despite not winning.

She has finished runner-up at her last three starts, but it was her effort behind Earn The Answers on the weekend which has her ready to win here.

The Peter Craig-trained chaser scorched her way up the rail and chased as hard as she could when being beaten just over two lengths.

A repeat of that 29.62 run will have her super hard to knock off in this race.

As much, making her the best of the night.

Suggested Bet: Family Trust win at $2.7
