Friday night football under the lights of Suncorp Stadium.
The best bets for Penrith Panthers versus South Sydney Rabbitohs.
head to head
August 20th 6:00pm
The second longest winning streak in the NRL season is put to the test when South Sydney Rabbitohs face Penrith Panthers on Friday night.
It is a chance for either team to take control of the second spot on the premiership table and guarantee a ‘home’ final.
Both teams had winning weeks last week with the Panthers delivering a cruel blow to St George’s finals hopes thanks to a 34-16 win, while the Rabbitohs pummelled Gold Coast with a 36-6 thumping at CBUS Super Stadium.
Scrolling back to Round 11 at Apex Oval this year, the Panthers handed the Rabbitohs a 56-12 smashing.
Despite it looking as though it would be a long road towards the top four for the Rabbitohs, it was the beginning of this incredible 10-game winning streak which has them poised for a crack at the premiership.
But the win by Penrith earlier this season against the Rabbitohs must be taken into heavy consideration.
Nathan Clearly and Matt Burton were both enormous in the result and their influence will be felt again here.
The battle between those two and the likes of Latrell Mitchell have us set for a ripper contest.
Suggested Bet: Penrith -2.5 at $1.91
Suggested Same Game Multi:
Leg 1: Penrith -2.5
Leg 2: Total points under 48.5
Leg 3: M. Burton anytime tryscorer
Combined odds = $7.50
first try scorer
Matt Burton/Josh Mansour
Matt Burton scored the first try of the game the last time these two teams played and he has been a threat for the Panthers all season.
Burton has been in cracking try-scoring form and looks a big danger to this, at time, shaky South Sydney defence.
For the Rabbitohs, going to side with gun winger Josh Mansour.
The 31-year-old still has plenty of zip left in his supercharged legs and did manage the first try a fortnight ago in the big win over Parramatta.
Suggested Bets:
Matt Burton first tryscorer at $13
Josh Mansour first tryscorer at $11
total points scored
Under 48.5
It was a high-scoring contest the last time these two teams met.
The pair combined for a whopping 68 points with the Panthers managing to cross the try-line on eight occasions.
Prior to that, the last five games between the teams had gone under the current 48.5 point line we see set for this game.
Interestingly, Souths have managed to exceed the total match points line in six of their last seven outings in the league, but this is arguably the best defence it will come across.
The Panthers have only conceded 252 points (the lowest in the league), while South Sydney have scored the second highest amount of points.
In the corner of the unders in this game.
Suggested Bet: Total points under 48.5 at $1.90
