The Meadows Greyhound Tips & Previews, Thursday 12th August

Tips and previews from the big Thursday night card at The Meadows

We switch from Sandown Park to The Meadows for Thursday night greyhound racing!

The best bets from the 12-race program are headlined by the National Distance and National Sprint Finals.

The Meadows Race 6

#6 Equalizer

Going with Equalizer who is probably still wondering how he could have such little luck in a race after last start.

He started a $1.50 favourite at this track and distance on Saturday night when drawing box one and got checked then held up behind runners.

The switch to box six looks ideal for him given he should have enough space out deeper on the course to show his ability.

Cannot forget he was coming back from nearly a month off after travelling back home from a handful of races he contested in Queensland.

He will be race fit now and looks the best of the night.

Suggested Bet: Equalizer win at $3.5

The Meadows Race 7

#8 Hank the hustler

This race is at the mercy of Hank The Hustler who was only just getting warm late in his effort over 600 metres at The Meadows on Saturday.

He kept coming to the line when being beaten by three lengths as a $3.5 elect, but now he gets up to his favoured distance.

A proven winner from box eight with three wins from his seven starts when being brandied with the pink rug.

His win two starts ago at The Meadows over 725 metres was run in 43.01 and if he replicates that then this race is all over.

Suggested Bet: Hank The Hustler win at $2.30

Suggested Exotic: Exacta – 8 & 2

The Meadows Race 8

#5 Aston Rupee

An incredibly talented greyhound who just needs an ounce of luck from his middle draw in this race.

The two-year-old chaser trained by Glenn Rounds was a shade unlucky not to defeat Mr Fix It last start who pops up as his main rival in this race again.

Aston Rupee has the starting price advantage over Mr Fix It from their clash at The Meadows last Saturday.

That market intelligence must always be adhered to.

Giving him a chance to atone for his third-place finish and expect him to be winning this easily if he gets a clear passage.

Suggested Bet: Aston Rupee win at $2.10

The Meadows Race 9

#8 Gypsy Yankee

Thought his effort at The Meadows last start was laudable enough to suggest he can win a race such as this.

He pinged towads the lead from box seven in a heat race and fought on well to finish third behind Fabriola Lad and actually finished in front of gun chaser Equalizer.

That form line looks the way to go here and this Andrea Dailly-trained chaser takes a step down in grade back to G4/5 level.

He started $2.70 elect when he raced in this grade two starts ago over a distance short of his best.

This race shapes up perfectly for him.

Suggested Bet: Gypsy Yankee win at $4.4

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 4, 8

the meadows race 12

#6 aston harlow

Backing Aston Harlow to get the job done over current favourite Stay Strong.

Aston Harlow has the pace to cross Stay Strong and cause headaches for the favourite.

He rose to 525 metres last start in a G5 a this track and was very brave in the concluding stages of the race running a time of 30.34.

That run is going to have his fitness levels at an optimum level for this event and his fast early speed is what will likely give him the advantage over this field.

Expecting him to start closer to favourite by the time this race jumps and he may even start the favourite.

Suggested Bet: Aston Harlow win at $2.90
