AFL Round 22 Game of the Week Tips & Previews, GWS vs. Richmond

The best bets are in for the Thursday night clash between the Giants and Tigers.

Best bets and value for head to head, first goal scorer and total points scored markets are ready to go.

HEad to HEAD

August 15th 7:50pm

It’s now or never for both GWS and Richmond when the pair fight it out for a place inside the top eight on Friday night.

The Giants have surged into finals contention and did their chances no harm with a stunning upset victory over Geelong at GMHBA Stadium, while Richmond held off a brave North Melbourne outfit to stay in the finals hunt.

Toby Greene will miss the match after being suspended for a careless elbow on Patrick Dangerfield, while Phil Davis, Jacob Hopper and Stephen Coniglio are all outside chances to return.

The Tigers scored a brilliant come from behind win over the Giants back in Round 9 after Dustin Martin produced a four-goal and 28-disposal effort to haul his mob over the line.

But without him here, the Giants might just have the upper hand despite being without Greene.

Giants do look the value in this one from a line perspective.

 Prediction: Richmond by 1 point.

Suggested Bet: GWS +8.5 at $1.90

FIRST GOAL SCORER

Tom Lynch/James Kelly

Tom Lynch is always a main threat given he is the Tigers’ focal point up forward and he will likely start out of the goalsquare.

The Giants defended Tom Hawkins so well last week, but Lynch presents a different challenge given his ability to find space as a big man.

James Kelly has to be considered a live chance given he just put pen to paper on a new long term deal that will see him remain a Giant for next eight years.

He will be chomping at the bit to get out on the field and in a dangerous attacking role forward of the centre.

Suggested Bet:
Tom Lynch first goalscorer at $9
James Kelly first goalscorer at $23

total points scored

over 163.5

Both teams possess star power in their forward lines capable of piling on plenty of goals.

This game went over the current 163.5 total points quote set last time the teams met each other.

Interestingly, 10 of the last 13 games the Giants have been involved in have gone over the total points line set for the game.

With finals on the line, expect a frantically paced game that will see scoring at both ends.

Suggested Bet: Total points under 163.5 points at $1.87
