Sale Tips & Previews, Thursday August 12th

The Wizard of Odds goes through the best tips and preview from Sale.

The Wizard of Odds runs through the Sale card for the best best ahead of Thursday racing.

A three-year-old filly in the second race peaks his interest.

Sale Race 2

#8 Onika

Onika showed speed in her two 800-metre jumpouts and looks well in with a winning chance on debut.

Her first jumpout was at Caulfield and she showed good dash to keep up with the Group performed juvenile Dosh and she was well clear of city winner Abseiler.

The three-year-old filly then ran third in her Cranbourne jumpout under a tight hold to suggest she has plenty under the hood.

Gun hoop Jye McNeil has been booked for the ride and that in itself is a big tick.

Suggested Bet: Onika win at $4.8

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 5 & 8

Sale Race 6

#1 Florida Dream

Florida Dream should run a better race down in grade here than he did last start.

The six-year-old gelding settled last in a field of 13 in BM-70 grade and ran on respectfully behind Heir To The Throne who is flying.

The drop to BM-64 level sees him rise only a kilo thanks to the 1.5-kilo claim from Logan Mcneil.

Goes up to 1746 metres which will be ideal for him and should strip much fitter third-up from his spell.

Suggested Bet: Florida Dream each-way at $9 the win and $2.6 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 5, 6, 8

Sale Race 8

#6 Portobello Road

Having a very speculative bet on Portobello Road who looks over the odds in this race.

He enters this race without a public trial or jumpout which is always hard to get a gauge on, but given he is massive odds he is worth the risk.

The three-year-old colt is proven over 1200 metres and will have zest in his legs given his a juvenile horse.

Celine Gaudray takes the ride and hopefully will not have to do too much work from the inside barrier.

This is Tony Rosolini’s new sprinter so he is sure to have this horse wound up for a big run first-up.

Suggested Bet: Portobello Road each-way at $26 the win and $5.5 the place.

Sale Race 9

#1 Tsugaru

Clear standout here is Tsugaru who is the lightly-raced type in the field with a bit of upside to come after his first preparation.

He races first-up after a lengthy break from racing following a debut maiden class victory which was followed up by solid enough efforts in BM-58 grade on heavy tracks.

Resumes here on a good four track and with the booking of four-kilo claimer Heidi Gillie.

Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustance have this four-year-old gelding revved up with two solid jumpouts.

That should be enough to have him on song for a big run upon resumption from his spell.

Suggested Bet: Tsugaru win at $3
