Randwick Tips & Previews, Saturday August 7th

The Wizard of Odds has gone through the card at Randwick to find the best bets ahead Saturday metro racing in Sydney.

It’s off to the Australian Turf Club at Randwick for Saturday metropolitan racing in Sydney.

The Wizard of Odds has circled his best bets for the mammoth ten-race card.

Randwick Race 1

#9 Larkspur Run

Larkspur Run looks a filly on the rise for James Cummings and Godolphin after scoring victory first-up over 1250 metres on heavy going.

The way she charged through the line to win by three lengths means the rise to 1400 metres looks perfect for her.

Rachel King has options from the barrier; she can either lead or take a sit with cover.

Should be another win on the path to potentially a stakes race if she can run well here.

Suggested Bet: Larkspur Run win at $3.3

Randwick race 4

#6 Invinciano

A return to the dry track sparked a big improvement in Invinciano.

She raced in BM-72 grade over 1550 metres at Canterbury last start and Brenton Avdulla fired her to the front to lead and bolt in by two-and-a-half lengths.

A little bit of weight relief from the 61kgs she had to carry last start and expect Avdulla to shoot her towarrds the lead again here.

Making her the best bet of the program given how nicely the map works out for her here.

Suggested Bet: Invinciano win at $3.3

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 6 & 9

Randwick Race 7

#2 Viridine

Starting to become a bit of a pain in the backside for punters, but he gets the right set up this time.

His run when rising from 1100 metres to 1200 metres last start was quite brave when having to sit out deep on the Caulfield course.

He could only manage fifth place, but a return to Randwick might just be the sea change he needs.

Think he is a better horse ridden with cover and being coiled up until the last 300 metres rather than having to chase hard from a long way out.

Speed in this race looks quite moderate and he should within striking distance on the bend.

Suggested Bet: Viridine win at $4

Randwick race 8

#4 Sky Command

Want to be with the Gary Portelli filly Sky Command who is two wins from two starts in her racing career.

Remarque, the current favourite, is probably a more talented horse, but Sky Command has the fitness edge over him here in what looks set to be a solidly run 1100-metre affair.

Love the way this three-year-old filly won at Randwick last start when pinging to the lead and holding all her rivals at bay to win by two lengths.

She is a proven sprinter at the track and distance.

Suggested bet: Sky Command win at $4.4

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 4/ 1, 3, 7/ 1, 2, 3, 7
