Sandown Park Greyhound Tips & Previews, Thursday 29th July

Tips and previews from the big Thursday night card at Sandown Park.

Greyhound racing from Sandown Park on a cool, crisp Thursday night.

A heap of winners to be found as our team goes through the best bets on the card.

Sandown Park Race 1

#4 Boombox Hammer

Steering clear of the Victorian form and siding with the lightly-raced chaser from South Australia in the form of Boombox Hammer.

He brings over two unlucky runs at his most previous two starts after drawing out wide on the Gawler course and never finding his sprinting rhythm in the run.

If we look back to his first two runs resuming from a short spell, he launched home for victory on both occasions and did so in impressive fashion.

With not much early speed predicted in this race, he can find himself near the lead early and then be able to use his sustain mid-race pace to draw clear.

Suggested Bet: Boombox Hammer win at $2.40

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 4

Sandown park race 5

#3 persian goddess

Persian Goddess has this race at her mercy from box three.

Her last start victory at Sandown over 595 metres was a slashing 34.32 victory over Kenny The Brute after leading all the way and bolting in by just under three lengths.

It was the win of a dog who is at the peak of her powers and she draws much better than her main opposition.

Given she races on the four-day back up, expect her to run an even better time than she did last start given she is likely to be peak physical being.

Suggested Bet: Persian Goddess win at $2.7

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 3, 5, 6

Sandown park race 6

#8 Darko Bale

Drako Bale is racing in near career best form at his last handful of starts and was a shade unlucky not to win last week at Sandown.

Interestingly, he steps up in distance to 715 metres for the first time in his career.

Given the pace he has early in his races, he should be able to find the lead quite comfortably here with a lot of his opposition looking much more dour than what he does.

He will be gasping for oxygen late in the race but if he can establish a good enough early lead then it might be too much reel in.

Suggested Bet: Darko Bale win at $4.2

Sandown Park Race 8

#1 King of calypso

King of Calypso is ready to make it three wins in a row when he fronts up for this 515-metre Grade 3/4 event at Sandown Park.

He has lit up the track his last two starts by winning in a professional manner.

His 29.58 win at Sandown two starts ago was that of a very smart dog and a repeat of that effort will see him winning this race.

The danger is clearly Invictus Rising who boasts a very slack 29.36 win here but he is 22 days between runs which means he might need this start to bring him up to full fitness.

Making King of Calypso the best of the night.

Suggested Bet: King of Calypso win at $3.2

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 1/ 3, 4/ 3, 4, 7

Sandown Park race 10

#6 Tinker Craig

This is Tinker Craig’s night tonight.

He was the victim of ‘death by inside’ last start after being held up in the run from box one and never looking a winning threat.

He did a fantastic job to fight on and run fourth in a field of seven but now he draws box six and it is here where he can show his true capabilities.

His record in the green rug reads eight starts for five wins and a placing proving he is a dog that needs to be out wide and have space to build his momentum.

He started a $2.10 favourite in this grade and he is going be very hard to get past if he finds the top early in the race as predicted.

Suggested Bet: Tinker Craig win win at $3.70
