Randwick Tips & Previews, Saturday 31st July

The Wizard of Odds has gone through the card at Randwick to find the best bets ahead Saturday metro racing in Sydney.

It’s off to the Australian Turf Club at Randwick for Saturday metropolitan racing in Sydney.

The Wizard of Odds has circled his best bets for the mammoth ten-race card.

Randwick Race 3

#10 My Dematra

My Dematra is starting to become a bit of a thorn in the side of the punters but she looks well placed in this race.

She is yet to miss a place at Randwick and looks sets to run another good race at each-way after grinding away to finish second behind Canadian Spice last start.

Being only second-up on that occasion should see her improve another two to lengths which is what she will need to be a massive winning hope in this race.

She tumbles down in the weights to carry 54kgs, which is the minimum in this race.

Hoping Sam Clipperton is positive on her and uses the lightweight to his advantage.

Suggested Bet: My Dematra each-way at $8.5 the win and $2.8 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 3, 10, 11

Randwick race 4

#3 Badoosh

Alarm bells are ringing with the booking of Hugh Bowman for Badoosh.

Matthew Dunn has called upon the champion jockey to take the reigns off Jason Collett in a bid to get this horse back into winning ways.

The Sebring-bred gelding managed to run third on a heavy track at Randwick over 1800 metres last start and gets a similar set up here but the difference here is drying surface.

That effort is the perfect conditioning run for this event and the La Chevalee form guide looks quite strong for a handicap event of this nature.

Suggested Bet: Badoosh win at $4.6

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 3, 5, 8, 9

Randwick Race 7

#10 Not Feint Hearted

Not Feint Hearted comes up huge odds in this race and it is understandable given his poor run last start but he did have excuses.

He sat outside the lead of what was a hot tempo on a heavy nine track when making the step up from 1100 meters to 1300 metres.

The Gary Portelli-trained gelding was clearly not fit enough to deal with that type of set up but he did start a $5 elect.

The lead looks up for grabs here and if Elleen Hennessy can control the speed then he can run a massive race at $20.

Suggested Bet: Not Feinted Hearted each-way at $20 the win and $5 the place

Randwick race 9

#7 Valaquenta

Fresh is best when Valaquenta resumes from a spell.

He is 90-days between runs with two stylish 800-metre Flemington jumpouts under his belt.

Godolphin usually has its sprinters screwed down to the mark when they race first-up and this looks like the case here.

He broke through for his third career win at his most recent start when defeating Thudson at Sandown over 1000 metres.

His 1100-metre credentials are quite solid with good efforts behind smart fillies La Mexicana and Minhaaj.

Suggested bet: Valaquenta each-way at $8.5 the win and $2.90 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 7
