Round 20 AFL Game of the Week Tips & Previews, Fremantle vs. Richmond

The best bets are in for the Sunday night clash between Fremantle and Richmond.

Best bets and value for head to head, first goal scorer and total points scored markets are ready to go.

HEad to HEAD

August 1 5:10pm

The dogfight for a spot in the top eight comes to fever pitch at Optus Stadium when Fremantle hosts Richmond on Sunday night.

Both teams suffered disappointing losses in Round 19 which has put a dent in their finals aspirations and now it is about salvaging what is left in the remaining fixtures.

The Tigers continued to look a shadow of the 2020 premiership side after being belted by Geelong for the second time this season.

Fremantle, meanwhile, lost Nathan Fyfe to season-ending shoulder surgery after he dislocated his troublesome right shoulder in the loss to Sydney.

Percentage is likely going to be a massive factor in how both teams fare on the ladder come season’s end.

If the Giants drop their game against Port Adelaide and Essendon drops its game against Sydney, a win for either team in this match will see them catapult into the top eight.

Richmond should get the job done. It has been there and done it all before.

 Prediction: Richmond by 10 points

Suggested Bet: Richmond head to head at $1.55

FIRST GOAL SCORER

Tom Lynch/lachie schultz

Tom Lynch was the man to kick the first goal the last time these two teams played each other back in Round 15 of 2020.

His form this year has been solid when on the park.

Jack Riewoldt will likely take the best defenders this week which should leave Lynch with open space to work in early in the game.

Lachie Schultz was lively in the first quarter against Sydney last week and got the first score of the game which would have been a goal if not for a finger tip on the ball.

Suggested Bet:
Tom Lynch first goalscorer at $9
Lachie Schultz first goalscorer at $15

total points scored

under 148.5

With rain predicted for Perth throughout the weekend there is every chance this becomes a low-scoring encounter.

The 2020 contest between the two teams only managed 85 combined points, albeit under 16-minute quarters.

With Dustin Martin and Nathan Fyfe not partaking in this match, it is hard to see quality score chains and opportunities being found all game.

Add in the slippery conditions and we will likely have a sloppy game.

Suggested Bet: Total points under 148.5 points at $1.88
