head to head

July 31st 7:35pm

Melbourne Storm and Penrith Panthers go head to head in a bid to stake their claims for the summit of the NRL table.

The Storm made it 16 wins in a row with a dogged 20-16 victory over North Queensland last week, while the Panthers battled their way to an 18-12 victory against lowly ranked Brisbane Broncos.

Round 3 marked the grand-final rematch between the two teams and it was the Panthers who scored a 12-10 victory in Sydney but with a neutral venue set for this game it is advantage Storm.

A win for either team in this game would see it sit outright first on the league table.

Ivan Cleary will be tasked with the tactical query of attempting to stop freak Storm winger Josh Addo-Carr and his partner in crime Ryan Papenhuyzen.

Addo-Carr, the man known as ‘Fox’, scored his 100th career after a try-scoring double in the Storm’s four-point win over the Cowboys.

Expecting the Storm to win this but the line does look over the top given how close the result was earlier this season.

Suggested Bet: Penrith Panthers +17.5 at $1.91

first try scorer

Josh Addo-Carr/Brian To'o

Sticking with the big guns in this game and going with the Foxx in the form of Josh Addo-Car and his Panthers coutnerpart Brian To’o.

Both wingers have been in scintilatting try-scoring form this season and Addo-Carr notched up the first try of the game last week against North Queensland, while To’o did the same against Brisbane.

These are games where the best players stand up and make their presence felt and expect this to be exception.

Confident Addo-Carr gets over the line first but To’o is also fantastic value at double-figure odds.

Suggested Bets:
Josh Addo-Carr first tryscorer at $6.5
Brian To’o first tryscorer at $15

total points scored

Under 46.5

Under 46.5 represents the value here.

The last seven games between Melbourne and Penrith have gone under 46.5 points with the closest any game ever coming to that score  being the grand final last year.

That game reached 46 points but even with the fine weather predicted and both teams fielding strong teams, defence is what these premiership favourites pride themselves on.

Suggested Bet: Total points under over 46.5 at $1.90
