Taree is the venue for Tuesday country racing in NSW.
The Wizard of Odds has run his wisdom over the program to find the best bets.
Taree Race 2
#11 Ciccina
Ciccina comes into this race in what will be the beginning of her second preparation.
Her debut run as a three-year-old filly saw her get out back in a 1200-metre on the ever on-paced favoured Gosford track.
The trial to get ready for this was over 1000 metres at Muswellbrook and there does not look to be a huge amount of speed in the race which will be perfect given her she is not rock hard race fit.
She finished second in the trial under a light ride and expect her to be in finish here from barrier five with apprentice Dylan Gibbons.
Suggested Bet: Ciccina win at $4.2
Suggested Exotic: Quinella 2 & 11
Taree race 3
#5 Imperial Grey
Imperial Grey is ready to win his second race.
He broke through for his maiden victory two starts ago and then himself getting shuffled a little too far back for his liking at Taree over 1600 metres in Class One company last start.
That run, despite being beaten 4.6 lengths, should bring on beautifully for this 2000-metre event and he has a big base of fitness to be able to run the event out strongly.
Apprentice Reece Jones has been riding well of recent times and he should be able to adopt a forthright position in the run.
Suggested Bet: Imperial Grey win at $4.2
Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 5, 9/ 2, 5, 9/ Field
Taree Race 5
#6 Paxos Miss
Paxos Miss gritted her teeth and was determined to do nothing but win at her most recent start after taking out a BM-58 at Taree over 1300 metres.
The three-year-old by Wandjina worked her way to an on-pace position from a wide barrier and despite having to work hard in the run she sprinted away to win by a length.
Having already run in this distance range and having a much better foundation of fitness to see out what will be a tough 1400-metre contest, she has a clear advantage over the current favourite Linguee.
Again, we side with Dylan Gibbons who will have the task of negotiating a passage from barrier one.
Expect this horse to lead or sit tucked in behind the leaders on the rail.
Making her the best of the day.
Suggested Bet: Paxos Miss win at $4.4
Taree Race 7
#16 Hillandale
While it might not show on his form guide, Hillandale has actually put together some solid runs at Taree in his most recent efforts at the track.
His last start when beginning a $9 elect on a very heavy track makes him a good each-way propsition in this race.
He was given a squeeze of the reigns mid-race to make up ground and just petered out late on his run in the testy going.
To reiterate the point, fitness is so important over these mile races and beyond.
This five-year-old gelding has a great base to run another strong mile and, as such, is in with a good chance at double figure odds.
Suggested Bet: Hillandale each-eay at $13 the win and $4 the place.
