It’s that time of the week.
A night at The Meadows for the best bets ahead of Saturday night greyhound racing.
The meadows race 1
#2 Zambora alani
Zambora Alani finally put it all together last start to streak away with her maiden victory at The Meadows over 525 metres.
She ran a solid 30.59 which is not absolutely breaking the clock but it is superior to anything posted by any dog in this field.
Box two will probably serve her better than the green lid she jumped from last week.
She will probably run faster time than she did last week given she will have to cover less ground.
Expecting a personal best here from this progressive chaser.
Suggested Bet: Zambori Alani win at $2.2
Suggested Exotic: Exacta 2 & 4
The Meadows Race 2
#7 Rockstar Ruby
Could have egg on the face after this race but going against the two Andrea Dailly and siding with Rockstar Ruby.
The Mario Briganti-trained chaser seems to take a liking to this track having raced twice for a win and place.
She also is a proven winner from and place-getter from box seven and with luck from the box she can run a big race at huge odds.
Clearly she does not have the talent of the two favourites but they are both drawn a bit awkwardly and are priced very short.
Suggested Bet: Rockstar Ruby each-way at $17 the win and $2.80 the place
The Meadows Race 5
#1 Carry On Angel
All over Carry On Angel in this race and making him the best of the night.
He won in 30.14 two starts at The Meadows over 525 metres in the Grade 4/5 race from box one.
Draws the exact same box and while he might face stiffer opposition he is perfectly poised to run to his best.
Love the fact that he went to Healesville up the straight over 350 metres to keep his fitness on point.
It is proven method with trainers and should come to the fore here.
Suggested Bet: Carry On Angel win at $2.90
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 3, 8
The Meadows race 6
#7 Five Star
Five Star was backed off the map in his heat of the Fireball but just found the going a bit too much.
He was coming back from a stint over in Brisbane with the travel might just taking the edge off his race form and fitness.
His run in the heat was much better than it looked and we have to respect the starting price given he was the favourite.
Box seven will be fine for him and expect a big improvement on his form.
Predicting a rating spike from him as he enters his grand final race.
Suggested Bet: Five Star win at $5
The Meadows Race 8
#6 Handsome Rhino
Handsome Rhino is a star Group 1 prospect and get his chance at glory in this $100,000 race.
His heat win last week was simply stunning after winning by seven lengths and smashing the clock to run an incredible 29.85.
He belted the handy Jepara and this is now a big step up in grade but he is well up to it if he runs a similar time to his last start effort.
He is still a very lightly-raced dog, in fact the most lightly raced dog in the field with only 15 starts to his name but he boasts seven wins and four placings.
There is a heap of early speed in this race but the freshness and zest in his legs might just allow him to get a nice cart across from the middle box with Mr Fix It, drawn inside of him, a very fast beginner he can get the tail of.
Suggested Bet: Handsome Rhino each-way at $6 the win and $1.75 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Trifecta 5, 6/ 3, 5, 6/ 3, 5, 6, 8
