We head into the week long break from racing with a Sunday meeting at Sale.
With an abundance of nominations, the Wizard of Odds is up and about for his best bets ahead of a thick ten-race card.
Sale race 4
#12 Indented Head
Excited by the debut of Indented Head after she put together a nice jumpout and trial to get her up to the mark for this 1200-metre Sale maiden.
The two-year-old filly from the Phillip Stokes yard showed nice speed at both outings to suggest she is sharp enough to sprint well first-up.
The fact her second pipe-opener was over 950 metres will mean she had a good base of aerobic fitness and muscular strength to run well.
Barrier two should see her either lead or take a sit in behind the leaders and jockey Josh Richards is riding the form of his career which breeds more confidence in this bet.
Suggested Bet: Indented Head each-way at $7.5 the win and $2.50 the place
Sale race 5
#14 Whistling BUllet
Surprised to see Whistling Bullet come up as long as she has in the market.
Her jumpout and trial leading into this debut run have not been that of a horse who should be market $31-$41.
She won her trial at Mornington over 700 metres on a heavy track proving she can handle being put under pressure on shifting ground.
The fact she is bred by well known wet-track sire Sebring means she will likely be able float along the wet going we are expecting at Sale.
Suggested Bet: Whistling Bullet each-way at $31 the win and $7 the place
Sale race 6
#5 I'm a bronco
Had I’m A Bronco earmarked to break his maiden at Mildura but he has been scratched and entered into this maiden over 1415 metres at Sale
His debut was a nice runner-up finish over 1209 metres at Echuca when settling last in the field and scorching home.
The step up in distance looks ideal for him and he now gets the services of Paddy Payne’s stable jockey Billy Egan.
Love that fact this three-year-old gelding draws a wide barrier as it likely means he will not have his momentum halted as he did last start when waiting for the gaps to appear.
If he settles midfield with some cover he will be launching up the middle of the straight and running this field down with ease.
Suggested Bet: I’m A Bronco win at $2.50
Sale race 9
#10 Yulong Code
Yulong Code looks ready to fire a shot when resuming from a spell in this Sale BM-64 over 1206 metres.
He had a nice jumpout over 800 metres on his home track at Pakenham in order to prepare for this race.
There will definitely be improvement to come in this race from a fitness point of view given he only has the one jumpout under his belt, but he has the talent to overcome that.
His last three starts were all solid efforts in city-grade races, albeit over further distance than what he faces today but his sharpness in the jumpout gives the impression he can show a turn of foot upon resumption.
Draws a barrier when he can settle midfield with some cover and then produce this run when need be.
There does not look to be too much early speed in this race either which will ensure he is not busted up and screaming for air at the point of corner.
Suggested bet: Yulong Code win at $4.2
