Greyhound racing from Sandown Park on a cool, crisp Thursday night.
A heap of winners to be found as our team goes through the best bets on the card.
Sandown Park Race 1
#1 Steamer Redeemer
His career win rate might not be great reading but he gets a fantastic opportunity to improve on that record in this race.
The Jason Sharp-trained dog has only managed one win from this 15 career starts but he is a reliable beginner and this is one of the easier races he has competed in for quite some time.
Draws perfectly in the cherry box and he will ping to the front and be hard to run down.
No real early speed of note to his outside either which will help his cause.
Suggested Bet: Steamer Redeemer win at $2.40
Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 7
Sandown park race 4
#7 Lakeview Cruiser
He sets up with the ‘golden switch’ which is the inside box to the outside box.
He was drawn in box one last start, struggled to find clear running room for the majority of the race and just never looked comfortable over the 525-metre circuit at The Meadows.
Box seven will be much more favourable for a dog with his long stride and his record from the black rug speaks for itself.
He is yet to miss a place from three starts and also had a win under his belt from the box.
His best would blow this lot away.
Suggested Bet: Lakeview Cruiser win at $3.7
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 4, 7
Sandown park race 5
#1 Bessie's Daisy
We were all over Tomato Tears last start but we are against him here.
Going with Bessie’s Daisy who is well conditioned to run a strong 715-metre race comapred to the favourite Tomato Tears who is smart dog in his own right.
But it is the first time the favourite has attempted a run at this staying distance which is always a bit fraught with danger.
We will be spotting the Tomato Tears a start but hoping the mid-race and finishing burst of Bessie’s Daisy will be too much.
Suggested Bet: Bessie’s Daisy win at $4.4
Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 4
Sandown Park Race 8
#5 Indy Matilda
Indy Matilda is a promising dog on the rise for trainer Andrea Dailly.
This two-year-old bitch drew box five in a higher grade race last start and was running on well at the finish after copping a squeeze early on.
Her 29.28 run here three starts ago is one of the fastest times any greyhound in this field has run over the distance range of 515 metres.
Anything akin to that run will see her mighty hard to hold out.
Surpised she has not come up shorter odds here and expect her to firm as get closer to the jump.
Suggested Bet: Indy Matilda win at $4.2
Sandown Park race 11
#7 Weblec Thunder
The Angela Langton-trained Weblec Thunder has been screaming out to win a race.
Two starts ago he raced over 350 metres at Healesville in order to get some zest back in his step and keep his fitness right at the top of its game.
That distance was well short of his best given he was up against faster, sharper dogs than what he faces here.
His effort behind Shima Bolt last start when stepping up to 515 metres was great and will have him primed for this.
Suggested Bet: Weblec Thinder win at $3.20
Suggested Bet: Trifecta – 7/ 1, 3, / 1, 3
