We travel down the highway for Friday’s meeting at Geelong.
The Wizard of Odds has done the hard yards to find the bets bets as we head into another big weekend of racing.
Geelong Race 1
#2 Bow Thruster
Bow Thruster is ready to peak racing third-up and getting to 2400 metres.
His first two runs thus far have prepared him well for this staying event after Simon Ryan plucked him from the Anthony Cummings stable.
The three-year-old colt draws a peach of a barrier which will see him settle on the speed with cover and not having to do much work in the run.
Josh Richards can put him to sleep early and he should prove too strong late.
Suggested Bet: Bow Thruster win at $4.6
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 4, 5
Geelong race 4
#10 maruqess
Marquess found the going a bit tough on debut over 1330 metres at Geelong a fortnight ago.
Damien Oliver rode the two-year-old Godolphin colt that day and had opted to stick fat with him in this race.
Interestly, the blinkers are applied for the first time which should help him improve those extra few lengths he needs to become a competitive horse.
He draws perfectly in barrier six and he can lay down a big challenge to the short-priced favourite.
Suggested Bet: Maruqess win at $5
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 5, 8, 10
Geelong Race 5
#8 American Saint
American Saint will have quite a things in her favour when he lobs down to Geelong today.
Ben Melham hops into the saddle which is always a big tick when he combines with Matt Laurie.
The three-year-old filly also rises in distnace to 1400 metres which will see her settle in the lead given how close to the leaders she had been racing against sharper, faster opposition last start.
Wide draw will be of no concern given her racing pattern and expect her to make this a winning run second-up from her spell.
Suggested Bet: American Saint win at $3.5
Geelong race 7
#11 miss starway
Miss Starway put in a bottler of a run at Sandown last start after settling last in a race dominated by the leader.
She rocketed home down the outside to only be beaten by a length after having to make up at least 7-8 lengths on the bend.
Stepping up to 1147 metres should suit her given the way she attacked the line last start.
The wide barrier might be a tough of a concern but Matthew Cartwright should be positive enough to settle midfield with some cover.
She looks a nice each-way bet to end the day.
Suggested Bet: Miss Starway each-way at $7.5 the win and $2.6 the place.
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 6, 10 ,11
