Randwick hosts Saturday metropolitan racing in Sydney as The Wizard of Odds finds his best bets.
A fresh horse catches his eye in race one but it is race eight where we find the best of the day.
Randwick Race 1
#8 Bay Of Kiel
Failed on her debut run over 1150 metres at Randwick Kensington but that was on a very heavy track.
She is an impeccably bred two-year-old filly by Redoute’s Choice out of Faint Perfume.
Gerald Ryan is known for his ability to get his horses to fire first-up and given the way this horse trialled she can run a cheeky race.
Draws a barrier where she can find a hand spot in the run.
Suggested Bet: Bay Of Kiel each-way at $14 the win and $3.4 the place.
Randwick Race 3
#13 Bubbly Lass
Siding with the left of field option here and going with Bubbly Lass who brings Victorian form into the race.
The three-year-old filly has stepped up to the mark every time Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace opt to rise in grade.
She surged to the line well after drawing a wide gate at Caulfield last start and she might just drawn in the right part of the track out wide on a wet Randwick surface.
Look out for her late in the race as she uses her strong finishing burst to climb over the top of her rivals.
Suggested Bet: Bubbly Lass win at $4.4
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 9, 11, 13
Randwick Race 7
#1 Opacity
Opacity is going great guns at the moment despite a last start defeat at Randwick over 1800 metres in BM-88 grade.
The wetter the track, the better this four-year-old gelding goes.
John O’Shea has opted to book Tom Sherry in a bid to get this horse back to his form from two starts ago where savaged the line over 1600 metres to win by over a length.
Just need Sherry to be positive from the inside barrier and not get caught up in behind runners when he tries to make his move.
He should be winning this with even luck even though Great House is shorter than him in the market.
Suggested Bet: Opacity win at $4.4
Suggested Exotic: Exacta 1 & 6
Randwick race 8
#11 blondeau
Blondeau finally gets a barrier where he can does not have to perform miracles to win.
He draw barrier ten last start, was snagged all the way back to second last as a $3.6 elect and rattled home to finish a-length-and-a-half off eventual winner Mirra Vision.
The Chris Waller-trained three-year-old meets that winner two kilos better off at the weights this time and will be much closer in the run this time in.
Tommy Berry takes the ride and this looks the best of the day.
Suggested bet: Blondeau win at $4.4
Randwick race 9
#14 Fortune Seeker
We seek fortone through Fortune Seeker after she gained a start in this race due to the scratching of St Covet’s Spirit.
Her first-up effort on a heavy eight track over 1100 metres at Warwick Farm was laudable given it was short of what her ideal distance range is.
The big tick in that run was the early gate speed she showed to lead against sprinters.
Tim Clark takes the ride now and from barrier one, while shifting up to 1400 metres, he can dictate terms out in front with this filly and press the button when he desires.
Looks like a filly who will progress through her grades nicely.
Suggested bet: Fortune Seeker each-way at $5.5 the win and $2.15 the place
Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 9, 10, 14
