Sale Tips & Previews, Friday 9th July

The best tips and previews for Friday racing from Sale.

Friday racing sees us trek over to Sale for the best bets.

Richard Laming looks to have unearthed a sharp sprinter in the first but we might have done the one to beat him.

Sale Race 1

#10 Asteroidea

Asteroidea jumped out as soft as butter in her win at Flemington.

The two-year-old filly by American Pharoah showed nice gate speed and travelled sweetly in the run highlighting her sound nature.

The big guide here is gun jockey Ben Melham being appointed to pilot her around the quirky Sale course.

She is drawn wide on the track but her early speed should combat that barrier and expect her to settle close to speed.

While the favourite will be hard to beat, think this Mike Moroney-trained filly represents much better value.

Suggested Bet: Asteroidea win at $3.5

SAle race 2

#12 Pelorus Princess

Pelorus Princess is set to break her maiden in this race after finishing a close second behind Veranskova.

She had to cover ground first-up at Sale over 1100 metres and did a fantastic job to keep surging to the line.

She draws the car park in this race but doubt that will be of any concern given her ability to jump fast and find an on-pace position.

This maiden race is arguably one of the weakest races on the program and if she cannot win this… well, we may as well just pack up shop and head home.

With the drying track at Sale, we should see her at her absolute best.

This will be short but sweet.

Suggested Bet: Pelorus Princess win at $1.65

Sale Race 4

#7 Marius

This is one of the most left of field tips in quite some time.

Marius has done absolutely diddly squat at his first two runs back from a spell, but it was trial in between runs that suggested he is not going as badly as his form suggests.

He copped a bog heavy track over 1170 metres at Wangaratta last start and went backwards before the field even cornered for home.

The rise in trip to the mile should see him lead easily here and it might work in his favour with a lot of the horses in this field no possessing the turn of of foot of his most recent rivals.

Can go a mini-holiday if this wins or even runs a place.

Suggested Bet: Marius each-way at $101 the win and $20 the place

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 6, 7, 11, 12

Sale race 7

#13 The Sisters

The Sisters is currently airborne at the moment given her limited ability as a sprinter.

She is racing out of her skin and was brave in defeat last start behind smart three-year-old filly Twist of Fury.

This five-year-old mare from the Pat Carey yard is a horse that needs to find the lead unopposed to be at her best as we saw two starts back when she bolted in at Bendigo.

The lead is hers for the taking given the lack of genuine leaders in this race and if apprentice Celine Gaudray can get her sectionals we should see a repeat of what we saw in early June.

Suggested Bet: The Sisters win at $4.8

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 13 & 15
