The Wizard of Odds starts the week in God’s country Warracknabeal with a handful of best bets at this Monday meeting.
We know he loves his first starters and this card is no exception.
Warracknabeal Race 1
#11 Mingora
Mingora is bred to really get out to a mile and beyond but she looks sharp enough to get the job done on debut over 1200 metres.
Her sole jumpout suggests she is well and truly forward enough to win a race like this at her first start given she showed good early toe despite being a little bit sluggish from the barriers.
The big factor here is the booking of Dean Yendall who will be positive on this two-year-old filly from the inside gate.
Lady Adelaide is her clear danger in this race but our selection is likely to be at least 4-6 lengths ahead in the run.
Suggested Bet: Mingora win at $2.10
Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 11/ 10/ Field
Warracknabeal Race 2
#4 donation
Donation was an enormous run from the rear half of the field last start.
With a lot of these country meetings being on-pace dominated affairs given the tight-turning nature of their tracks, it made his run all the more meritorious.
Granted, his stablemate in Amazeballs will likely be ahead of him in the run, but the way he finished off last start, he should gobble them up late in the race.
Declan Bates does not have to do anything too cute with this three-year-old colt by Outreach.
Just keep him in full stride, get him comfortable and launch his run up the middle.
Should that occur, he will be breaking his maiden status.
Suggested Bet: Donation win at $3.2
Warracknabeal Race 3
#3 Croc Lurkin'
Taking a set against the raced horses here and siding with the first Croc Lurkin’.
Think Jamie Edwards has a neat and tidy three-year-old that he and his owners can have some fun with on the country racing scene.
He did have a winning trial over 1000 metres at Geelong and has had a month off in preparation for this run.
The three-year-old gelding by Squamosa showed plenty of professionalism in the win, striding out nicely under a good hold and having a good head carriage in the run.
Most notably, when Craig Roberston is booked for Edwards, the pair combine strongly.
Suggested Bet: Croc Lurkin’ win at $5
Suggested Exotic: Quinella 3 & 6
Warracknabeal race 6
#4 ARcadia King
The big drop in class for Arcadia King should see him into this race up to his ears.
Trainer Paul Preusker stepped him up to BM-78 class in town at Sandown last start and he was completely outclassed and beaten by just over ten lengths.
He comes back to BM-58 grade and although he is allotted 63kgs, Preusker will saddle up Tatum Bull to claim two kilos.
Interestingly, this four-year-old gelding’s only win has come at this track.
Should enjoy a trouble free run from the middle barrier and he looks hard to beat in a very plain race.
Suggested bet: Arcadia King win at $4.2
