Round 16 AFL Game of the Week Tips & Previews, Sydney vs. West Coast

The best bets are in for the Sunday afternoon clash between Sydney and West Coast.

An important game in the complexity of the top eight when Sydney and West Coast do battle on Sunday afternoon.

The best bets for head to head, first goal scorer and total points scored are in!

HEad to HEAD

July 4th 1:10pm

We could be set for a potential elimination final rehearsal in this game between Sydney and West Coast.

The game was originally scheduled to be played at the SCG but the fixture was thrown into disarray due to health and safety protocols.

It will now come down to who can handle the travel to Victoria, and, in particular, to GMHBA Stadium.

Sydney fell short by 10 points against Port Adelaide last week despite the heroics of Buddy Franklin, while West Coast was smashed by the Western Bulldogs in front of an empty Optus Stadium.

Even though the Eagles defeated Sydney in Round 5 2020, John Longmire’s men are a much improved team since that outing.

Sydney do have a superior record at this oval as well with West Coast being haunted by a near 100-point loss when it played Geelong at this ground earlier this season.

 Prediction: Sydney by 15 points

Suggested Bets:
Sydney -1.5 at $1.91

FIRST GOAL SCORER

Errol Gulden/Oscar Allen

Looking for some value outside the obvious here and siding with Errol Gulden who will surely improve for the run after coming back from injury.

He showed fantastic goal-scoring prowess earlier this season and he is a speedy player who can get under the guard of the tall West Coast defence.

The other player to keep the eye on is Oscar Allen.

Swans defenders Dane Rampe and Tom McCartin will likely occupy Josh Kennedy and Josh Kennedy.

If that likely scenario occurs then Oscar Allen is the man left with the mismatch and should be the man West Coast target early in the game.

Suggested Bet:
Errol Gulden first goal
Oscar Allen first goal

total points scored

Over 161.5

Last year’s Round 5 clash between the teams only garnered 120 points, but it must be remember that was on shortened quarters.

Sydney has implemented an attacking brand of football this season which has seen their score count increase on last year.

West Coast, too, has a dangerous forward line capable of kicking a big score.

Scrolling back to Round 12 2019, Sydney and West Coast played out a 187-point game on the SCG which is a similarly narrow ground to that of GMHBA Stadium.

Suggested Bet: Total points over 161.5 points at $1.88
