Greyhound Racing Tips

Thursday Greyhound Tips & Previews, 1st July

Tips and previews from the big Thursday night cards at Albion Park and Sandown Park.

Pinch, punch, it’s the first day of the month!

No better way to bring it in than a cheeky little late night punt on the best bets from Sandown Park and Albion Park.

Sandown park race 1

#2 Aston Alphia

Looks as though she despised being drawn in the outside box last start after she was beaten by four lengths when running fourth at Sandown on Sunday.

She drew box seven on that occasion and was never able to really get going, nor hit full momentum.

Drawing an inside box with the sight of the rails early in the race should get the verve back into her racing.

Her 34.52 win at this track and distance from the same box two starts ago goes very close to winning this.

Happy to take on the favourite drawn in box one given the price differential.

Suggested Bet: Aston Alpha win at $4.4

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 2

Sandown park race 4

#1 whatever i say

Whatever I Say tried his guts out in a much higher quality race last week when running third behind Hank the Hustler.

He pinged towards the lead and kept kicking along up on the pace to finish third in a time of 42.19.

His record only reads two starts over the 715 metres at Sandown for a minor placing but this is the easiest race he has contested in a while.

With three wins from six starts at the track, he should have no problems handling the surroundings and he had a class edge on this field.

Suggested Bet: Whatever I Say win at $2.3

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 1/ 2/ Field

Sandown park race 7

#6 Gypsy Wyong

Shock, horror… Andrea Dailly has another dog in her kennel with untapped potential that could come to the fore here.

Gypsy Wyong continues to step up to the mark every time Dailly asks the question of her.

The one-year-old bitch rose in distance to 595 metres for the first time in her career last start and easily accounted for her rivals.

She owns a last start 34.31 victory which is not anywhere near the 33.87 posted by her main threat Jarrick Bale, but he has been tardy to jump at his last two starts.

Given the natural improvement we should see from Gypsy Wyong with regards to fitness, expect her to get closer towards a sub 34-second race time.

Want to be with the dog who is up, running and firing away from the lids.

Suggested Bet: Gypsy Wyong each-way at $6.5 the win and $2.2 the place.

Albion Park race 2

#8 Bedrock Fred

Bedrock Fred acquitted himself very well upon his first run at Albion Park a week ago.

He may have just lacked the fitness to run a really strong 715-metre race with two weeks in between runs.

The two-year-old dog trained by Tony Brett should gain some improvement out of her last start effort given it was her first ever sighter around the Albion Park track.

Expecting a sharp improvement from her in this race.

Suggested Bet: Bedrock Fred each-way at $6.5 the win and $2.6 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 2, 8/ 2, 8/ 6, 7

Albion Park Race 3

#1 Sir Truculent

Going with the 90-race marvel in the form of Sir Truculent.

He has been sent all over the country at his last three runs.

Sandown Park over 715 metres, Murray Bridge over 680 metres and the most recent of starts at Albion Park over 710 metres.

Tony Brett has finally settled him and kept him in Queensland for this Queensland Cup Heat and he draws box one.

Best of the night from Albion Park.

Suggested Bet: Sir Truculent win at $3
