Euro 2020 Group Stage, Tips & Previews, Monday 21st June

The BetDeluxe team previews the best bets from the group stage of Euro 2020 - albeit a year late!

The Euro 2020 action continues into the early hours of Tuesday morning when European heavyweight Belgium attempt to go three from three in the group stage.

The best bets from all three games coming to us overnight has found value for all punters.

Ukraine vs. Austria

June 22nd 2:00am

Ukraine and Austria lock horns at Arena Nationala come Tuesday morning in a game that will decide the fate of either nation heading towards the Round of 16.

Both teams come into this game tied on three points each knowing only a draw is needed to all but likely ensure progression out of the group stage.

Andrey Shevkchenko would have been breathing sighs of relief after his men hung on to a 2-1 victory over Macedonia to record Ukraine’s first three points of the tournament.

Austria, meanwhile, was simply no match for Netherlands and would go down 2-0 to leave this final match day a must win proposition to guarantee qualification out of Group C.

Ukraine showed its attacking force in its 3-2 loss against Netherlands in its opening Euro 2020 fixture.

Andriy Yarmalenko scored one of the goals of the tournament in that game to breath life into Ukraine and he is the man that will attempt to throw the Austrian defence into sixes and sevens.

That performance has far more substance to it than what Austria dished up against the Dutch last week.

The query surrounding this game is whether or not either team will attempt to play for the draw.

Assuming that occurs, the $1.80 might be a luxury.

Going to steer clear of the head to head markets and aim at the total goals.

Prediction: Ukraine 0 Austria 0

Suggested Bets:
Total goals scored under 1.5 at $2.25

North Macedonia vs. Netherlands

June 22nd 2:00am

The odds are stacked heavily against North Macedonia when it squares off against Netherlands to bring an end to Group C action.

After wrapping up top spot with a 2-0 victory over Austria last week, the Dutch will look to send North Macedonia on its way after its tournament was ended last week following a 2-1 loss to Ukraine.

In what will likely be one Goran Pandev’s final international tournaments, North Macedonia are playing for pride against a Dutch side who may opt to rest and recover.

Frank De Boer has a plethora of options on hand and will contemplating the idea of keeping the winning momentum going by leaving his star players on the pitch or benching them in preparation for the Round of 16.

The return of Matthijs de Ligt from a groin injury in the win against Austria reassured De Boer of his squad and its defensive capability.

For Macedonia, many questioned if it would even manage to hit the scoresheet but it has done that in both games thus far.

Despite the losing results, Macedonia can hold its head up high if it is able to push the Dutch in this game.

Expect this to be a win for Oranje but not as dominant as the $1.27 suggests.

Prediction: Netherlands 3 Macedonia 1

Suggested Bets:
Total goals over 2.5 at $1.57

Finland vs. Belgium

June 22nd 5:00am

World number one Belgium attempts to keep its flawless run through Group B intact when it faces underdog Finland on Tuesday morning.

There was some doubt over the fitness of Kevin De Bruyne given the shocking face injury he copped in the Champions League final.

He proved an unstoppable force in the second half of a 2-1 win against Denmark after assisting a goal and scoring the match winner as a half-time substitute.

The win ensured Belgium extended its perfect record in the competition – including qualifiers – to 12 wins from 12 games as it enters this clash with Finland.

The Finns followed up controversial 1-0 win against Denmark with a defeat by the same scoreline against Russia who it sits level with on three points going into the final round.

Finland might be able to take advantage of Roberto Martinez resting his star players in preparation for the next phase of matches.

In an improbable dream scenario, Finland would actually top the group if they manage a famous win over Belgium and Russia fail to take maximum points.

For Markku Kanerva’s troops even a draw woukd suffice if Russia lose to Denmark in the other Group B fixture, to be played in tandem.

Prediction: Belgium 2 Finland 1

Suggested Bets:
Romelu Lukaku anytime goalscorer at $2.95
Half time total goal over 1.5 at $2.81
