Rosehill Tips and Previews, Saturday 19th June

The best tips and previews for the nine-race card at Rosehill on Saturday.

The Wizard of Odds circles his highlighter over the nine-race card at Rosehill.

A horse getting the blinkers looks set to peak in race one and there looks to be a great each-way chance in the W J McKell Cup.

Rosehill Race 1

#7 Armour Force

Armour Force looks ready to peak at his third career start.

He was a beaten odds-on commodity at Goulburn last start but had excuses after finishing second behind California Sky.

The step from 1200 metres to 1500 metres probably just saw him blow up late in the race but that effort should bring him on beautifully for this.

Interesting that the camp apply the blinkers for the first time and we should see him ping to the front from barrier eight and prove hard to run down.

The Freedman stable usually target these metropolitan races so well and the blinkers being applied screams he is ready to improve the few lengths he needs to be competitive in a race like this.

Each-way price to find out if he is up to the task.

Suggested Bet: Armour Force each-way at $10 the win and $3 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 5, 7

Rosehill Race 4

#8 Total Recall

Total Recall is running much better than his form suggests.

He has drawn some brutally wide barriers this preparation but has been very brave in defeat when being asked to settle too far back in particular at this last two runs.

Finally draws a barrier which will see him settle much closer to the speed than what he has in recent races.

He has only had one go at the 2000-metre distance in town and managed finish fourth on a heavy track when starting a $4.2 elect.

Think we will see the best of him in this race.

Suggested Bet: Total Recall each-way $11 the win and $3.10 the place.

Rosehill Race 7

#12 Approach Discreet

Alan McGregor might not have the star status of some of the big Sydney trainers who saddle up runners in this race but he has a stable star in Approach Discreet who will run the race of his life.

The five-year-old gelding from the McGregor is slowly but surely building towards peak fitness and run beyond 2000 metres.

But he comes into this race with a solid fitness foundation to run a very strong 2000 metres.

Gets in on the minimum with 53 kilos and gets the guidance of champion jockey Kerrin McEvoy to pilot him around a course he has already had winning success at.

Suggested Bet: Approach Discreet each-way at $6.5 the win and $2.35 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 8 & 12

Rosehill Race 8

#3 Lucicello

Going to give the four-year-old mare Lucicello a chance to find winning form.

Chris Waller has decided to apply the tongue tie on this horse for the first time.

That great application will stop this mare from choking down and hopefully allow to breath easier in the runs.

Big jockey change with Kerrin McEvoy replacing Kathy O’Hara.

Hoping McEvoy can settle her a pair or two closer in the run than she has been at her most recent starts.

Expect her to run a much improved race at long odds.

Suggested bet: Lucicello each-way at $17 the win and $5 the place.
