Thursday Racing Tips and Previews, 17th June

Best Tips and Value finds from both cards at Warrnambool and Wyong

Warrnambool and Wyong headline Thursday racing from Victoria and NSW.

The Wizard of Odds is back to find the winners as head towards another big weekend of racing.

Warrnambool Race 7

#7 Grey Khan

Grey Khan has more rump steak around him, on the home turn at his last run, than a family of four scoffing down a happy hour meal at the pub.

He looked to be bolting for a run on the turn in a BM-64 rated race over 2000 metres at Ballarat and simply had no room to move with tiring horses falling straight back into his lip.

He draws an inside barrier which might yet be another death sentence to his winning chances in this race but expecting the young, new apprentice Tianni Chapman to be very positive from the barrier.

Her four kilo claim gives her a nice weight swing advantage over Fiorente Lass and we get five times the price to see if that coupled with a bit more luck can see her not only beat the main danger but win the race.

Suggested Bet: Grey Khan each-way at $21 the win and $5.5 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 7, 10/ 3, 7, 10/ 3, 6, 7, 10

Warrnambool Race 9

#13 Izzy Good

Izzy Good is racing in a fine vein of form for a horse of his level.

Trainer Mick Bell has him going extremely well and he followed up an all the way victory at Moe on a heavy track with a brave third-placed effort at Cranbourne in a BM-64 over 1000 metres.

1300 metres is a distance he has never raced at before but given his natural early speed he should be able to find the front on what is a track that will likely favour leaders.

Jade Darose can attempt to stack the field and then sprint in order to use this sprinters turn of foot as an advantage compared to those in the field who may be a bit more talented but dour.

This six-year-old gelding had a clear handle on wet tracks with nine starts on a heavy for three wins and three minor placings.

Suggested Bet: Izzy Good each-way at $20 the win and $5 the place

Suggested Exotic: Boxed First Four – 5, 6, 9, 13

Warrnambool Race 10

#1 Moor Wanted

Moor Wanted may not have won a race since April 19 2020 but he has his best chance to break that hoodoo.

Has not really had ideal circumstances at his first three runs this preparation.

He was first asked to take a sit on a leader bias track when resuming from a spell, then was asked to work hard from a wide gate at his second run, and last start stepped up in grade to BM-70 but went way too fast out in front.

The drop down back to 1000 metres and a wide gate looks like it actually might suit this Peter Chow runner by being snagged back and saving his sprint for late in the race.

There looks to be a fair bit of speed drawn inside of him and if Tatum Bull can amble out of the barriers and slot into a spot with cover then he can sprint over the top of the tiring leaders.

Suggested Bet: Moor Wanted each-way at $5 the win and $2 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 8

Wyong Race 6

#2 Prince Invincible

Prince Invincible finally put it all together with a smart win in maiden grade to break through for his first career win.

Tim Clark pinged him to the lead on a soft track Gosford over 1100 metres with 61 kilos on his back and never looked back!

The three-year-old gelding out of I Am Invincible dashed away to score an easy win and now makes the step up to what looks to be a relatively simple Class 1 race.

Similar tactics are likely to be adopted by Clark from a middle barrier.

The fact a gun senior jockey like Clark has opted to keep the ride on a horse like him suggests the Gary Moore-trained gelding still has plenty more to give.

Suggested bet: Prince Invincible win at $2.5

Wyong Race 8

#1 Sonic Tycoon

Sonic Tycoon put together two good wins at his first two career runs prior to being tipped out and spelled.

He resumed first-up last start at Kembla Grange on a heavy track over 1600 metres and drifted heavily in the market which suggested he was not ready from a fitness point of view.

The drift might also have been due to the heavy track he faced and his inability to handle chopped up ground.

He gets onto a drying surface at Wyong and the wide gate should be of no concern given he will push forward and race on the pace.

Expect a sharp improvement from him today in much more suitable conditions.

Suggested bet: Sonic Tycoon each-way at $6 the win and $2.25 the place.
