Randwick Tips & Previews, Saturday June 12th

The Wizard of Odds tunes into the best bets from the nine-race card at Randwick.

It’s a tough card at Randwick but The Wizard of Odds has dug deep to find value throughout the nine races at Randwick.

A country galloper comes to town after catching the eye with an impressive win in Tamworth.

Randwick Race 3

#11 Ice In Vancouver

It may have only been a Tamworth BM-58 but the way Ice In Vancouver put the field away was as impressive a country winner as they come.

The three-year-old gelding trained by Cody Morgan controlled the front and darted away when jockey Dylan Gibbons cracked him with the whip on the hind.

Gibbons barely needed to move a muscle after the gelding extended his stride and lengthened away to win by nearly four lengths in sharp time.

He will follow Remlaps Gem across from barrier eight, lead or sit outside the lead and then dart away as he did last start.

No issues with the gap between runs at is looks as though Morgan has kept him fresh for a big run in town.

Suggested Bet: Ice In Vancouver win at $2.8

Randwick Race 5

#5 La Chevalee

La Chevalee is also nominated for Sandown but it is expected she will make the trek up to Sydney in a race that is worth $50,000 more for the winner.

She is ready to win after finishing second at her first and second-up runs this preparation.

Her effort last start against a very smart mare called Kurabui was brave as she plugged away to only be beaten by just over a length.

That run will bring her to peak fitness third-up into her preparation.

Regan Bayliss has been booked to ride the four-year-old mare from barrier five.

Looks as though she is going to have the run of the race and is poised to run a career best.

Suggested Bet: La Chevalee win at $3.7

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 4 & 5

Randwick Race 6

#11 Brutality

We were on Brutality a fortnight ago but the he just found the drop back from a mile to 1400 metres just a tad too sharp.

He settled just worse than midfield and rattled home late in the race to finish third and be beaten just under a length.

The step back up to the mile and drawing an inside barrier again should see him settle much handier to the speed than last start.

His most recent run over the mile was two starts ago when he was enormous at Gosford in a high-pressure mile race.

Only has to carry 53 kilos in this handicap race and he’s ready to win in town.

Suggested bet: Brutality win at $3.9

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta 11/ 2, 4, 7,/ 2, 3, 4, 7

Randwick Race 7

#8 Fituese

Fituese seemed to despise the wet track she raced on last start when being beaten as a $2.7 favourite.

Trainer John Thompson has opted to give her a month off racing and a trial in between runs to kick her ticking over.

She will return to racing on a much drier track and the booking of Brenton Avdulla is a key factor in improving this mare’s chances of getting back into the winners list.

This is the first time she races on the Randwick surface and she draws the perfect barrier which should allow her to get up the middle of the track to let down with her sharp sprint.

Suggested bet:  Fituese win at $4.4
