Round 13 AFL Game of the Week Tips & Previews, Port Adelaide vs. Geelong

The best bets are in for the Thursday night clash between Port Adelaide and Geelong.

Thursday night footy returns when Port Adelaide take on Geelong.

Time to found the head to head, first goal scorer and total points scored selections for this top eight clash.

HEad to HEAD

June 10th 7:40pm

Geelong head over the border to Adelaide Oval when it meets Port Adelaide for what is sure to be a Thursday night thriller.

Both teams come into this match fresh off the bye with the Cats making a string of selection changes which includes the return of Patrick Dangerfield.

Mitch Duncan will also take to the field after suffering a concussion during the win against Gold Coast last month.

The home team return to form prior to the week off with a convincing 46-point win over Fremantle but are now versed with having to a stop a Geelong team who boast arguably the best forward line the competition.

Port Adelaide has knocked off the Cats the last two times the teams have played at Adelaide Oval but given the form Geelong is in we have to be with them at a nice price.

 Prediction: Geelong by 8 points

Suggested Bets:
Geelong head to head at $2.02

FIRST GOAL SCORER

Robbie Gray/Gary Rohan

Geelong’s tall defenders are amongst the best in the competition and will attempt to put a vice like grip on Charlie Dixon and Mitch Georgiadis.

A small to medium forward is the way we will lean from a Port Adelaide perspective.

Robbie Gray might be the forward to cause nightmares for the Cats backline.

He is nimble and quick enough to get at a tall Cats back line who rely heavily on intercept marks to stop the opposition.

From Geelong’s point of view, Gary Rohan will likely attract the least amount of attention from the Port defenders given they will have to deal with Jeremy Cameron and Tom Hawkins.

Rohan’s pace is the asset that will allow him to be lively early in the game.

Suggested Bet:
Robbie Gray first goalscorer at $12
Gary Rohan first goalscorer at $10

total points scored

Over 154.5 points

Last season these teams met twice with the scores reaching 122 in Round 12 and 100 in Round 19.

The caveat on the low scores there was the muggy conditions as well as the shortened quarters.

With Geelong adding the attacking prowess of Jeremy Cameron into its forward line, that alone should see the scores catapult towards the current 154.5 point margin.

Weather forecast tonight for the game is cool and clear so expect the kicking and ball movement to be clean and fluid which will allow for scoring.

Suggested Bet: Total points over 154.5 points at $1.90
