Monday Ballarat Racing Tips and Previews, 7th June

Best Tips and Value finds from the eight-race card at Ballarat.

No better way to cure that Monday-itis with the bets bets from Ballarat synthetic.

The Wizard of Odds has gone through the eight-card program and selected his best selections of the day.

Ballarat Race 2

#9 Diamondsandjewels

Going to give DiamondsandJewels another chance after she gassed out at her first-up run.

She had missed over four years of racing after long lay off and was sent out a $2.6 favourite after some very sharp jump outs.

After enjoying a nice run in transit over the Pakenham synthetic 1200-metre circuit, she popped her head out to seem like a winning chance on the corner but faded away late in the race.

Think she will be afforded an economical run from barrier three and expecting a big improvement from her.

She clearly has the talent, it’s just a matter of keeping her sound.

Suggested Bet: Diamondsandjewels win at $4.2

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 8 & 9

Ballarat Race 3

#11 Sudden Impacts

Resumed in a metropolitan maiden over 1200 metres at Sandown and finished sixth of nine runners but it should set him up perfectly for this.

The two-year-old filly from the Sean Mott stable jumped away with the leaders but was restrained immediately to the rear half of the field.

She held her spot well to the line and was still surging late in the race.

Think the inside barrier, less pace in the race and the rise in distance will see her settle closer to the speed and much harder to beat.

Best of the day at Ballarat.

Suggested Bet: Sudden Impacts win at $3.9

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 8, 11

Ballarat Race 5

#4 Clean Acheeva

Clean Acheeva may not have won since August 2020 but she can run a bold race up front here.

In a small field it looks like she will get a speed map to suit her perfectly with most horses in the race keen to take a sit wit cover.

Craig Newitt is usually a very positive rider and he should seize the front with some initiative when the barriers open.

The last time this mare raced in BM-70 grade she won with 62kgs on her back.

Despite there being no third dividend, she can easily run top two here, and, as such, looks a good each-way bet.

Suggested bet: Clean Acheeva each-way at $7 the win and $2.25 the place

Ballarat Race 6

#12 Funding

Funding might be a wylie old veteran of the racing scene but he is decent shout in this BM-58 affair.

Forget about his two fail runs on the synthetic to date. He was poorly set-up to run well in both of those and one of them came in higher grade.

He is fully fit and started a $2.5 favourite in this grade last start to suggest he is a good race within him.

He will not have to do too much work from barrier six and jockey Liam Riordan can assess the race it unfolds.

Expecting him to settle midfield with cover and then produce his run at the 400-metre mark.

Suggested bet:  Funding each-way at $21 the win and $5 the place.

Ballarat Race 7

#2 Ronay

Ronay was set a near impossible task last start.

In a deep field at this track and distance last week, she settled way too far back to make up the ground required to win.

She was truckloaded in betting and stormed home down the outside to run second.

The smaller field should ensure she only has to make up 3-5 lengths on the leaders rather than the 8-10 she was required to at her most recent race.

She loves racing on the synthetic surfaces and this is a race that should her breaking a run of outs.

Suggested bet: Ronay win at
