Monday Pakenham Racing Tips and Previews, 31st May

Best Tips and Value finds from the eight-race card at the Pakenham synthetic track.

We begin the week with an eight-race meeting from the Ballarat synthetic track.

The best bet from The Wizard of Odds comes in race four, while he has also ventured to NSW for a bonus best bet for the punters.

pakenham Race 2

#8 Miss Keeler

Miss Keeler jumped out very professionally at her Pakenham 1000-metre spin around early last week.

She led up a field of seven runners and bolted away to win the jump out by four lengths and eased down on the line.

The impressive part of her effort was the way she stuck her neck out when she was in the straight.

Her gate speed and mid-race cruising speed is what will allow her to have a tactical advantage over this field.

Blinkers first time to keep her mind on the job and she clearly handles the surface.

Suggested Bet: Miss Keeler win at $2.7

Suggested Exotic: Quneilla 6 & 8

pakenham Race 4

#11 Unique Artist

Unique Artist may not have looked to have put in her best performance when first-up at Sale but expecting her to improve sharply today.

She was out the back and never really made up any ground when racing over 1400 metres, holding her spot to the line as she ran eighth of 11 runners.

The big change up for this three-year-old filly is the shades being applied for the first.

Her jump outs prior to the first-up run suggests she has talent and expect the blinkers to get that talent to come to the fore today.

Jamie Mott hops aboard and hoping he can positive from the barriers and settle in an on-pace position.

Suggested Bet: Unique Artist win at $4.6

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 5, 10, 11

pakenham Race 5

#9 Jacin Taclee

Forget Jacin Taclee ever raced last start after copping a heavy track at Moe over the mile.

She got too far back and was never going to make up the ground required to be winning threat.

Trainer Shane Stockdale has opted to return her to the synthetic track – where she arguably does her best racing.

Her last three runs at this track have yielded two runner-up finishes and a third-placed finish all three of which are good enough to win this.

She had a big SP advantage over Inside Edge despite that horse beaten her when they last went head to head.

Happy to be with her each-way here.

Suggested bet: Jacin Taclee each-way at $8.5 the win and $2.5 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Boxed F4 – 2, 3, 4, 6, 9

pakenham Race 6

#7 Manhattan Sting

Thinking that Chris Hyland has pulled the correct reign to get Manhattan Sting rising up sharply in distance.

The Dundeel gelding has done most of his racing over the mile and now goes up to 2200 metres which should have him right in the mix.

He was unlucky at this track a fortnight ago when being held up at the top of the straight and asked to sit and sprint.

That clearly is not his go and he whacked away to finish midfield.

From an inside barrier today, expect him to settle much closer to the lead speed, if not, then take the lead himself and bowl along in front.

If he finds the front easily, they will struggle to run him down.

Suggested bet:  Manhattan Sting each-way at $8.5 the win and $2.6 the place.

Port Macquarie Race 6

#2 Oakfield Prince

A little left of field one for the punters with a bet on Oakfield Prince at Port Macquarie.

He was a beaten odds-on commodity at Tuncurry when copping a very heavy track with 61.5 kilos on his saddle.

Now he drops down in the weights to 58.5 kilos and gets a much less testing track to show us what he is capable of.

He should enjoy an easy time out in front on a track that favours on-speed runners.

The combination of jockey Darryll Mclellan and trainer Damien Lane has been deadly at the country circuits in recent times.

Suggested bet: Oakfield Prince win at $2.6
