head to head

May 29th 5:30pm

South Sydney Rabbitohs contest the Parramatta Eels on Saturday night in a top four clash.

Both the Rabbitohs and Eels suffered heavy defeats in Round 11 and are on the hunt to return to the winners list.

South Sydney conceded 50 points yet again after being smashed by premiership favourite Penrith 56-12, while the Eels faced the full brunt of the Manly Sea Eagles and its star fullback Tom Trbojevic.

The Eels went down 28-6 and, despite the Rabbitohs facing a form slump against top four teams, this match is arguably a tougher assignment than that of the Sea Eagles.

The South have won the last two fixtures against the Eels with a 38-0 thumping in Round 16 last season and a 38-24 victory in Round 22.

Predicting the home team to perform in front of its green and red crowd tonight.

Suggested Bet: South Sydney Rabbitohs -2.5 at $1.89

first try scorer

Clint Gutherson/Cody Walker

Clint Gutherson got on the scoresheet with an early try against Manly last week as he made it eight tries for the season.

His team mate Maika Sivo is one of the leading tryscorers in the competition and the Souths defence will likely attempt to shut him down which opens the door for Gutherson.

Prior to the 44-point belting received by Penrith, South Sydney managed the first try against Cronulla through the hands of Keaon Koloamatangi but he was enormous odds to do so.

Cody Walker comes up good odds to nail the first try given he’s scored nine tries this season.

Suggested Bets:
Clint Gutherson first try scorer at $13
Cody Walker first try scorer at $15

total points scored

under 50.5

The Round 22 match from 2020 was a try-scoring thriller which ended up seeing both teams combine to score 62-points.

Highly doubt that type of game will occur here given the way South Sydney conceded points last week.

There is almost no way Wayne Bennett will let his troops get away with another defensive lapse, so expect a much tighter Souths defensive unit.

Suggested Bet: Total points scored under 50.5 points at $1.90
