Wizard of Odd's previews and best bets from Kilmore, Hawkesbury and Pakenham.

Kilmore, Hawkesbury and Pakenham are the venues for the best bets.

A nice each-way bet in the fifth at Kilmore, followed by the best bets from Hawkesbury and the night meeting at Pakenham.

Kilmore Race 2

#8 Rowlett

Going to have a little each-way ticket on Rowlett at big odds.

He was sent to the paddock after two ordinary runs but one those was behind Saturday city winner Vespertine.

His two jump outs upon a return to racing have been encouraging.

The Simon Zahra and Matthew Ellerton team have got this horse jumping out of the barriers well and he comes into this race sporting the blinkers for the first time.

That gear change should hopefully get him to improve the two to three lengths required to be a winning chance in this.

Suggested Bet: Rowlett each-way $19 the win and $3.90 the place

Suggsted Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 2, 4, 8

Kilmore Race 5

#5 Thrum

Going to be forgiving of Thrum’s last two starts and will be with him in this race thanks to a move favourable set-up.

He was beaten a fair way at both his last 2000-metre efforts at Wangaratta but had excuses.

Most recently, his trainer Belinda Dunn informed stewards that this horse would be a ridden for cover.

That was clearly not a winning decision but a step back to 1600 metres and racing on the pace, as we predict here, will help his chances greatly.

Expect him to improve with a more positive ride and a much softer barrier.

Suggested Bet: Thrum each-way at $8 the win and $2.5 the place.

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 5, 6/ 1, 5, 6/ 1, 2, 5, 6

Hawkesbury Race 3

#8 company line

We will be towing Company Line to the winning post in the race as he looks to break through for his maiden victory at start number 16.

He gets a drying track here after finishing a solid second behind Fattore Stella and will settle in a handy spot just in behind the leaders.

While the favourite, Verbek, will be tough to beat, not sure his price justifies a horse who is yet to see out the 1400-metre trip.

Our selection has the advantage of a residual fitness which will assist his chances in this race.

Suggested Bet: Company Line each-way at $13 the win and $2.60 the place

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 4 & 8

Pakenham Race 1

#7 red sista

Red Sista looks poised to break her maiden status in this race.

After leading and finishing third in a Kyneton maiden over 1200 metres, she has been given nine weeks in between runs.

She has also had a 1000-metre Balnarring jump out to keep her legs ticking over and showed good zest in the lead prior to being eased down in the last part.

Expecting Daniel Moor to kick up from the inside gate and hold the front and hopefully get a bit of a break on the favourite from the Hayes camp.

Suggested bet: Red Sista win at $3.1

Pakenham race 7

#3 governor landy

Governor Landy looks good each-way value in this race despite finishing second-last over the 1000 metres at Bendigo just over a fortnight ago.

He was strung up in between horses after jumping clearly and then being restrained to sit worse than midfield.

Ended up being way too far back and just never really had a chance to show his best.

Stepping up in distance into what looks to be a race with a much softer tempo should see him settle much closer in the run.

Has proven he can handle the synthetic surface in the past which is always a positive.

Suggested bet: Governor Landy each-way at $11 the win and $3.5 the place
