Greyhound Racing Tips

Thursday Greyhound Tips & Previews, Thursday 20th May

Tips and previews for big Thursday night of Group 1 greyhound racing from Sandown Park as well as the best bet from Albion Park.

Our favourite time of the week has arrived: Thursday night greyhounds.

Albion Park, Sandown Park are the venues for the best bets after a profitable Wednesday set.

Sandown Park Race 2

#8 Immunity

We backed Immunity last start but he probably just felt the pinch of a tough run when second-up from a spell.

It was his first-up run which really got us excited and that seems to be his true form after running a very sharp 25.51 to win at Warragul over 460 metres.

Now that he has had the run over 515 metres at Sandown, he will be absolutely ready to peak and run to his best.

He is versatile dog who can race from inside alleys or outside alleys.

He will jump from box eight in this race and he had a unblemished two wins from two starts in the pink rug.

Suggested Bet: Immunity win at $2.8

Suggested Exotic: – 8/ 1/ Field

Sandown Park Race 5

#8 Prim and Proper

Going with Prim and Proper in this Sandown Cup heat.

The David Smith-trained bitch looks the early leader in this race and he does have a starting price profile advantage over some his rivals in this race.

He is one of the premier staying dogs in the country and even though he has not had a look at the Sandown Park track in his career, he has the racing style that will equip him well for this race.

His main danger is the dog drawn in box one, Not Happening, but it’s that dog’s first attempt at the staying distance.

Our selection should have the base of fitness to outstay him.

Suggested Bet: Prim and Proper win at $3.8

Suggested Exotic: Quinella – 1 & 8

Sandown Park Race 6 - Sapphire Crown final

#3 Shima Classic

Shima Classic is a rising star in the greyhound ranks and she can add to her prizemoney here with a Group 1 victory in the Sapphire Crown Final.

Loved her effort here last start when racing off a three-week gap between runs.

She probably just lacked the race fitness required to run to her absolute best when she finished runner-up as $1.70 favourite behind Carry On Star.

She did miss the start by about two lengths which probably cost her victory, but the week between runs should keep her sharp enough to ensure she does not repeat those antics.

Suggested Bet: Shima Classic win at $5

Suggested Exotic: Boxed Trifecta – 1, 2, 3

Sandown Park Race 8 - Harrison-dawson Final

#8 Tiggerlong Tonk

A two-dog battle between Tiggerlong Tonk and Shima Shine.

Siding with the better value of the two in the form of Tiggerlong Tonk who was simply sensation when winning the heat of this Group 1 final in 29.10.

Shima Shine almost cracked the sound barrier when running a 29-second flat heat victory last start but he drawn a little bit awkwardly in box two given he can sometimes bit a little bit tardy away.

Tiggerlong Tonk, however, is drawn ideally for a dog of his racing style.

His record from box eight is a sight to behold with 13 starts registering seven wins.

If he crosses Shima Shine early it will just be a matter of how far he beats him by.

Suggested Bet: Tiggerlong Tonk win at $3.7

Albion Park Race 7

#1 Frogs Hollow

Frogs Hollow looks the chaser to knock off Cash View in this race.

Cash View does come out of a stronger race where he was desperately unlucky and never given a winning hope after being squeezed and flushed out the back from box five, but he comes up extremely short odds.

Frogs Hollow is a dog in winning form who show good muster box one to record a slick 30.21 victory at the Albion Park 520-metre circuit last start.

A repeat of those feats in this event will see him a top winnig prospect.

Suggested Bet: Frogs Hollow win at $3.7
