The Wizard of Odds was in career best form last week after slamming home winner after winner.
He now has his eyes cast over the meetings at Flemington and Rosehill.
Let’s find ourselves some winners!
Flemington Race 2
#10 Ocean Miss
Yuck, yuck and more yuck.
That was all that had to be said about Ocean Miss after being truck loaded in betting at Flemington last start, only to have absolutely zero luck.
She settled in the rear half of the field in what was a solid run mile race and when her jockey, Jake Noonan, attempted to gain a clear passage he found nothing but rump steak around him.
She now gets the golden switch; inside barrier to outside barrier.
That will allow her to have full momentum at the top of the straight in order to run down the likely leader and favourite Holbein.
Suggested Bet: Ocean Miss win at $5
Suggested Exotic – Quinella 2 & 10
Flemington race 5
#16 modear
Modear is starting to become a bit costly for punters given her ‘get-back and run-on’ racing style but she comes up nice odds in this race.
She probably just got a little too far back last start as a $3.8 elect when running third behind smart Phillip Stokes-trained sprinter Whipcracker Way.
She has the starting price profile advantage over the Stokes horse and might just be better suited to the sit and sprint style of straight racing.
Madison Lloyd is a more than capable apprentice jockey and she should be able to blend into the race with some cover.
Nice each-way proposition in what looks a very open straight race.
Suggested Bet: Modear each-way at $9 the win and $3 the place
Flemington Race 6
#9 Great Leveller
The punters got the cash with Great Leveller after he was very heavily backed last start to win a BM-62 sprint over 1000 metres at Morphettville.
He fought on like warrior in a ding-dong battle up the straight with Star of Uma to hold on for a narrow victory.
Loved the tenacity he showed in the win and his ability to stick his neck out when challenged is the sign of a good horse.
Will Price takes the two-kilo allowance off his back again and with an on-race racing style it should see this Jon O’Connor horse go very close to winning.
Suggested Bet: Great Leveller each-way at $8 the win and $2.7 the place
Flemington Race 8
#1 Great Again
It was a super return from a spell by Great Again in the Wangoom Handicap.
He was posted three and four deep on a heavy track when you just had to be on the rail.
The eight-year-old gelding just kept kicking but tired late to run fourth and be beaten just under two lengths.
That run should see him absolutely primed for a place he loves to race; the Flemington straight.
He will plonk himself on the pace and comes up good each-way odds for a horse who has never missed a place at three starts up the straight.
Suggested Bet: Great Again each-way at $8 the win and $2.7 the place
Rosehill Race 7
#3 Grey Lion
Grey Lion is an old marvel who just continues to race well in the twilight of his career.
His last start run behind Paths of Glory and Zaaki was full of merit after being restrained to last from a wide barrier.
He was only beaten by just over two lengths after attempting to sustain a long run to catch the leaders.
Has since been given a month off with a trial in between to keep him up and about.
From barrier five, expect to settle handy to the pace and be the main threat to the favourite Parry Sound.
Suggested Bet: Grey Lion each-way at $6 the win and $2.25 the place
