Previews and best bets as we end Matchweek 20 and stride into Matchweek 21 of the A-League season.

Matchweek 20 ends with Brisbane hosting Central Coast and Perth hosting Western United, and Matchweek 21 commences when Melbourne City face Adelaide United.

Let’s shoot and score with the best bets across the best fixtures for the A-League this week.

Brisbane Roar vs. Central Coast Mariners

May 12th 7:05pm

After charging to the top of the A-League table, the Central Coast Mariners will now seek to end a five-game winless streak when it plays Brisbane roar on Wednesday night.

The Mariners surprised all before them up until a month ago and have now slipped down to fourth on the table and in danger on losing its double-chance in the finals.

Meanwhile, the Brisbane Roar had its four-game unbeaten run come to a halt after succumbing to the league leader Melbourne City on Sunday in a five-goal thriller.

The offensive threat posed by the Roar was on full display in their 3-2 loss against City after Joe Champness and Macaulay Gillesphey pegged back a two-goal first-half deficit.

It is a Roar front line the Mariners defence need to be aware of for the full 90 minutes.

This contest is shaping to have huge consequences on an already complex playoffs outlook.

Prediction: Brisbane Roar 1 Central Coast Mariners 1

Suggested Bet: Draw at $3.5

Suggested Same Game Multi:
Leg 1: Draw
Leg 2: Total goals scored under 2.5
Leg 3: Total corners over 7.5
Combined odds = $5.25

Perth Glory vs. Western United

May 12th 9:20pm

Perth Glory face an tricky encounter against Western United when the teams meet at NIB Stadium tonight.

The home team broke a string of six games without a win following a 2-1 triumph over Melbourne Victory on Sunday and get the chance to defeat another out of form opponent.

Western United have lost two in a row coming into this clash with a 2-1 loss to Brisbane preceding its worst performance of the year.

Mark Rudan’s men were belted from pillar to post in a 5-0 loss inflicted by Western Sydney on Saturday.

Ironically, the last time a team scored five goals in a game involving Western United was back on January 23rd when United defeat Perth 5-4 at AAMI Park.

United will surely have a focus on defence in this game given the way it leaked goals against the Wanderers.

There will be goals, but not as many as the previous fixture between the two teams.

Prediction: Perth Glory 2 Western United 2

Suggested Bet: Draw at $3.6

Suggested Same Game Multi
Leg 1: Both teams to score
Leg 2: Total goals over 3.5
Leg 3: L. Wales to score anytime
Combined odds = $5.75

Melbourne City vs. Adelaide United

May 6th 7:05pm

It’s first versus third when Melbourne City take on Adelaide United at AAMI Park on Thursday night.

City has charged to the top of the A-League standings having lost only one game in its last 13 outings to sit nine points clear with a game in hand from second-placed Sydney.

Patrick Kisnorbo has, so far, proven his worth in his first season as City coach but now faces his sternest test to date.

Adelaide United, despite playing out scoreless draws in its last fixtures against Western United and Wellington Phoenix, have shown patches of brilliance this season and represent a threat to City.

The Reds will welcome back talented forward Mohamed Toure after he received a red card against Western United but will be without Ryan Strain after he was sent off against the Phoenix.

The momentum of City is hard to resist but there looks to be value in the double chance market.

Prediction: Melbourne City 1 Adelaide United 1

Suggested Bet: Double chance – Draw or Adelaide United at $2.90
