Tuesday Racing, Tips and Previews, 11th May

Wizard of Odd's previews and best bets for Tuesday racing.

The Wizard of Odds takes his wisdom to an eight-race card at Mornington.

One his best bets comes up in the first of the day!

Mornington Race 1

#6 Kapanku

This two-year-old filly has shown nice signs at the jumpouts and trials in preparation for her debut over 1000 metres.

Looks like she is a horse who will appreciate getting cover in her races and left to finish with a burst of speed to defeat her rivals.

She draws the perfect barrier for that to occur in this race with their likely to be over-exuberant juvenile horses dashing to the front early.

Michael Poy should be able to slot in behind the leaders use the strong finish this filly should in her jump out to great effect.

Suggested Bet: Kapanku win at $4.6

Mornington RAce 2

#8 Princess Violet

Tipping another filly to break her maiden status today this time in the form of Princess Violet.

She was tipped out by trainer Tony Noonan after a slightly disappointing display at her first ever career back in December 2020 and looks to have returned in much better fettle.

She looks a stronger horse after having a few months off to grow and flourish in the paddock.

She races at her home track as well which is always a big positive for young, inexperienced horses.

Just needs to get a bit of luck from an inside barrier to be troubling the short-priced favourite.

Suggested Bet: Princess Violet win at $4.6

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 8

Mornington Race 3

#5 Rattle and Bang

There are horses with a lot of convictions in this race and the one who is the fresh horse on the scene ready to fire first-up is the Dean Binaisse-trained Rattle and Bang.

After debuting in an open grade three-year-old at Moonee Valley won by the smart sprinter Written Beauty, Binaisse opted to send for a spell.

The trainer clearly has a big opinion of the horse having debuted him in such a strong race and he looks to be ticking beautifully after an impressive jump out.

Returns having had the ultimate gear change; gelded.

If he has improved anywhere between 2-3 lengths, which is highly likely, then he will be winning this race.

Suggested Bet: Rattle and Bang win at $3.2

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 5

Mornington Race 6

#7 Inkslinger

We backed Inkslinger two months ago when he sported the blinkers for the first time but he left a lot to be desired after a dismal effort at Sandown over 1600 metres.

Happy to forgive him for that run after he was well backed that day in BM-64 grade and he pops here after a let-up to get back into the swing of things.

The drop down in grade to a BM-58 should allow him to be more competitive and if we look back through his form guide, the last time he raced at this level was over this distance.

He finished second beaten a narrow margin on that occasion and at double figure odds he is a good each-way play in the race.

Suggested bet: Inkslinger each-way at $14 the win and $3.9 the place

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 4, 7/ 4, 7, 13/ 4, 7, 12, 13
