Greyhound Racing Tips

Saturday Night Greyhound Tips & Previews, 1st May

Tips and previews for greyhound racing at The Meadows and Wentworth Park.

Gold Cup and Bob Payne Sprint Heats adorn us for racing at Wentworth Park and we’re also off to The Meadows for the customary Saturday night meeting under lights.

Best bets and selections have been hunted down and are ready to win!

The Meadows Race 1

#5 Big FOnzie

A competitive Maiden Final race to open the card and we are firmly in the camp of Big Fonzie.

His debut run at this track and distance was sensational despite being the runner-up.

He ran an 29.97 after showing a blistering mid-race turn of foot but was reeled in by a very smart dog called Ridge who is likely to become a very good chaser.

The second-elect in the market, Gypsy Wyong, ran no where near the time of Big Fonzie.

If our pick has a clear run at it, he will be winning this race by a space.

Suggested Bet: Big Fonzie win at $2.5

Suggested Exotic: Exacta 5 & 1

The Meadows Race 3

#6 Lawful Man

Buttering up on Lawful Man here who had no luck at all last start after starting the favourite in a Grade 6 race.

He draws a better box here in box six which should mean he can hit his stride without being impeded as he was last start.

The dogs drawn outside of him do not seem to have a type of early pace he can show when he puts it all together.

Last time he raced in Restricted Win class he coincidentally donned the green rug and won with a leg in the air over The Meadows 525-metre circuit.

Suggested Bet: Lawful Man each-way at $6.5 the win and $2.8 the place (No Third Dividend)

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 1, 6/ 1, 6/ 3

The Meadows Race 5

#7 Aston Fastnet

Aston Fastnet will show us how fast he is in this race.

He drew the squeeze box last start and got shunted out of a run as soon as the boxes opened up.

Despite the bump and check, he battled on hard to only be beaten six lengths as the $2.80 favourite and he will get a big chance to atone for that defeat.

Box seven will ensure he is out of trouble early in the race and it will give him the best chance to crunch through his gears and hit top speed without being checked.

Definitely one of the better bets on the program.

Suggested Bet: Aston Fastnet win at $2.4

Wentworth Park Race 5

#4 Zipping Niseko

Backing Zipping Niseko to bring Stanley Road’s incredible winning streak to an end.

Stanley Road is the odds-on favourite and deservedly so but Zipping Niseko represents good value given he will map ahead of the favourite.

His last start win when defeating Prim and Proper was run in a very sharp 42.07.

That time was slightly faster than the 42.10 set by Stanley Road in his last start win.

Happy to be with the blue rug in this event but we will be holding our breath late in the race as Stanley Road attempts to chase us down.

Suggested Bet: ZIpping Niesko win at $4.8

Suggested Exotic: – Quinella 3 & 4

Wentworth Park race 7

#8 Simply Smudge

Simply Smudge is simply a box eight bandit!

He has had four starts in the pink blanket for three wins and gets a great chance to get back onto the winners list in this race.

His last start was a slightly unlucky third when he jumped well from an inside box but copped a few awkward bumps on his way to finishing third to Second Exit.

The wider box will suit him perfectly this time and should allow him plenty of time to find top speed as they hit the first corner.

Suggested Bet: Simply Smudge win at $4.8

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 1, 7, 8/ 1, 7, 8/ 1, 4, 7, 8
