Saturday Racing Tips & Previews, Caulfield & Morphettville April 22nd

All the Best Tips, Predictions and Form Analysis from BetDeluxe's Wizard of Odds for Caulfield and Morphettville.

The two race cards from Caulfield and Morphettville have caught the attention of our Wizard of Odds.

A big-each way play in the last at Morphettville is matched by an import who is ready to run a huge race at Caulfield.

Best bets are at the ready!

Caulfield Race 5

#12 Curran

Curran looks ready to make the progression to Saturday grade after two solid efforts at midweek Sandown Lakeside meetings.

Two things that stand out for him in this race are a good fitness base which has been underpinned by running over the 1200 metres at his last two starts and racing up on the speed.

With the rail out in the eight-metre position, jockey Matthew Cartwright will clearly have only one thing in his mind: find the front.

With only 51kgs on the back of this three-year-old gelding, there surely will be a clear intent from the connections to bowl along in front and get all the back-markers chasing and off the bit from a long way out.

Each-way all day.

Suggested Bet: Curran each-way at $7.5 the win and $2.5 the place

Suggested Exotic: 8, 10/ 8, 10, 12/ 6, 8, 10, 12

Caulfield Race 7

#12 Killourney

Killourney has been building towards a massive run and now he gets the chance to show his best.

The Irish import has had two runs in Australia thus far for the Paul Preusker team and both have been meritorious despite not getting into the winners list.

He carried 54kgs at his debut Australia run when finishing third behind the smart mare Shandy and he then followed that up with a solid third-placed effort after carrying 61kgs.

Both runs were at Sandown and now he makes the step up to Saturday at Caulfield and in doing so he gets right down in the weights with 54kgs.

The rise in distance to 2000 metres is exactly what this horse needs.

Hoping Declan Bates can find a nice spot, midfield with some cover, to allow this horse to be coiled up and saved for one booming run up the middle of the straight.

Suggested Bet: Killourney win at $4

Morphettville race 6

#7 Incredulous Dream

The Victorian raiders have a stranglehold on this race and rightfully so.

Annavisto comes up the short-priced favourite but we will be siding with Incredulous Dream who gets a favourable set up.

The Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace-trained filly had to lug around 60kgs in a competitive 1400-metre event at Caulfield last start won by Agreeable – who comes up the $3.8 second elect in this race.

The big push for Incredulous Dream here is the weight swing advantage she gets on Agreeable here.

It’s a four kilo swing in favour of our pick which should be more than enough to bridge the 1.3-length margin between the two last start.

Suggested Bet: Incredulous Dream each-way at $6 the win and $1.90 the place

Suggested Bet: Trifecta – 6, 7/ 6, 7/ Field

Morphettville Race 9

#6 Miletus

The Jamie Edwards-trained Miletus is a stayer on the rise and makes his debut city run in this Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes over 2000 metres.

He was truck loaded late in betting in a BM-64 at Sale over 1728 metres last start and after looking like he was labouring up the straight, he knuckled down brilliantly to run away from his opposition and score by one-and-a-half lengths.

Damian Lane has followed this horse across to Adelaide and from barrier four he should be able to afford this three-year-old gelding a cushioned run.

The rise to 2000 metres is perfect for a horse of his ilk and he looks destined for a bigger things during this Adelaide autumn carnival.

Having a decent crack at him on an each-way basis.

Hard to see him missing a place.

Suggested Bet: Miletus each-way at $7.5 the win and $2.6 the place.
