We head into the weekend with a host of NBL fixtures providing us with plenty of value.
The best best for another weekend of NBL action are in.
Cairns Taipans @ New Zealand Breakers
April 23rd 7:30pm
It’s a bottom of the table clash when the New Zealand Breakers host the Cairns Taipans from the Silverdome.
The Breakers come into this match having produced a miraculous upset over the 2020 champions Perth with a 83-78 victory on Sunday, while the Taipans suffered a five-point loss to the Sydney Kings.
It was a big team effort by The Breakers to get the ‘dub’ over the Wildcats with five players hitting double figure points.
Levi Randolph came off the pine to lead all scorers with a 23-point, four-assist and four-rebound effort.
Having already played against each other three times this season, the Breakers hold a 2-1 advantage over the Taipans with the most recent result being a 76-73 result in favour of the home team.
It was a close game on that occasion and the market suggested it would be as well.
There seems to be a big overreaction to the Breakers’ win against the Wildcats and this represents a good opportunity to side with the Taipans at the point spread.
Suggested Bet: Cairns Taipans +9.5 point spread at $1.91
Brisbane Bullets @ Perth Wildcats
april 23rd 9:30pm
The Perth Wildcats take to the court on the prowl for victory against the Brisbane Bullets following a rare loss over the weekend.
The second-placed reigning champions were well and truly humbled by the New Zealand Breakers after suffering a five-point 83-78 loss.
Bryce Cotton was well held despite managing 10 assists in the loss and the Bullets will attempt to execute a similar defensive mindset such as the Breakers to overcome this tough fixture.
Brisbane, too, was dealt defeat at the hands of the Breakers but to a more severe degree.
The Bullets would succumb to a disheartening 91-71 loss and now face a Wildcats side desperate to bounce back from a disappointing performance and unrelenting in their pursuit for another trophy.
It’s very rare that the Wildcats lose two in a row and with the home crowd cheering them on, we expect it to be a result in their favour.
Suggested Bet: Perth Wildcats -6.5 point spread at $1.87
Adelaide 36ers @ Melbourne United
April 24th 5:30pm
Table topper Melbourne United return to the home court surroundings of John Cain Arena when it takes on the travelling Adelaide 36ers on Saturday.
United look unbeatable at the moment having strung together eight consecutive wins since being thumped by the Sydney Kings back on March 19.
It was fairly light work for United against Illawarra on Sunday after a blistering first-half opened up a 14-point lead at the main break and from then on in it was cruise control mode.
United would go on to record an 87-76 victory, while the 36ers maintained its good run of form with a 90-81 triumph over the SEM Phoenix.
Dean Vickerman has already guided his squad to a win over the 36ers this season following an 82-73 result back on February 25.
The 36ers will need to be on the ball from the get-go.
A horrific first quarter – where it trailed 31-8 at the first break – was the catalyst for defeat.
Highly doubt United cough this one up at home given the form it is currently in.
Suggested Bet: Melbourne United -6.5 point spread at $1.92
