Let’s start the weekend the right way; with winners!

head to head

APril 16th 6:00pm

The BetDeluxe Game of the Round has landed at McDonald Jones Stadium on Friday night when the Cronulla Sharks visit the Newcastle Knights.

With both injury plagued teams sitting on a 2-3 overall record through the first five games, a win would see the Sharks leapfrog the Knights on the table.

Cronulla looked to be running away with its third win of the season last week when it skipped ahead to an 18-4 lead with only 19 minutes remaining.

But cue a late capitulation, the Sharks would concede four tries to go down 26-18.

The Knights, meanwhile, were smashed by a faster, hungrier and fitter Gold Coast Titans outfit 42-16 at CBUS Super Stadium last week.

However, the timely returns of Bradman Best, Kurt Mann and Jacob Saifiti will add some much needed grunt into the Knights squad.

The home team does have a good record recently against the Sharks having won the last two fixtures.

The market is suggesting this will be a very tightly contested game but the inclusions for the Knights should help them get the premiership points.

Suggested Bet: Newcastle Knights to cover the -1.5 line at $1.87
Suggested Same Game Multi:
Leg 1: Newcastle 1-12
Leg 2: Total points scored under 42.5
Leg 3: H. Hunt anytime try scorer
Combined odds = $8

first try scorer

Mawene Hiroti & Bradman Best

Cronulla hold sway to a very impressive first try scoring record this season having done so on four out of five occasions.

Mawene Hiroti has been the centre of attention early in the last fortnight scoring the first against the Roosters last week and St George the week before that.

The Knights have only managed to score the first try in two games thus far through the first five rounds of the year.

Jayden Brailey and Gehamat Shibasaki were the players to achieve the first try scoring feats of the Knights this year.

Going to stick with the momentum of Hiroti here who will definitely have his tail up early in the piece and Bradman Best will want to put a good foot forward upon his return to the field.

Both Hiroti and Best look the value here.

Suggested Bets:
Mawene Hiroti first try scorer at $12
Bradman Best first try scorer at $13

total points scored

under 42.5

Predicting both teams will be putting a particular focus on defence this week during training.

The Knights conceded a whopping 42 points in the loss the Gold Coast Titans, while the Sharks defence folded like a deck of cards in the last 18 minutes against the Roosters.

If we look back to the game between the two teams last year in Round 17, it reached a combined score of 48 points but the Knights were coming off a shocking offensive display the week prior.

Going to side with the unders here and with some scattered showers about for Newcastle in the evening, it might make for a wet and slippery contest where ball handling will be a major test.

Suggested Bet: Total points scored under 42.5 points at $1.90
