NRL Round 6 Best of the Rest Tips & Previews

Check out the preview and best bets for the best of the rest in NRL Round 6.

Check out the rest of the NRL action this weekend as we preview and lob in the best bets from every other game following our Game of the Round.

It all begins with the premiership favourite Penrith facing rank underdog Brisbane.

Brisbane vs. Penrith

April 15th 7:50pm

The Penrith Panthers are all but certain to keep their undefeated start to the season intact when the travel to Suncorp Stadium to face 12th placed Brisbane Broncos.

The Panthers showed their class in a 30-10 over the Canberra Raiders last week to entrench itself atop of the league and scoot away to be outright premiership favourites.

Brisbane, under new coach Kevin Walters, have only managed the one win this year.

The struggle for the Broncos have been laid to bare in the last three weeks.

Only 12 points scored in their last three fixtures highlights the huge task it faces against the Panthers.

Might pay for Broncos fans to look away.

Suggested Bets: Penrith Panthers to cover the -27.5 line at $1.87

Suggested Same Game Multi:
Leg 1: Total Points Under 44.5
Leg 2: N. Cleary score anytime
Leg 3: Brisbane under 12.5
Leg 4: Penrith 13+
Combined Odds: $6.5

Melbourne vs. Sydney

April 16th 7:55pm

The classic Melbourne and Sydney rivalry resumes when the Storm welcome the Roosters to AAMI Park on Friday night.

The reigning NRL champions were at their best last week after belting the Bulldogs 52-18 to get themselves back inside the top eight with a winning ledger through five rounds.

Ryan Papenhuyzen showed the competition why he is considered not only one of the best fullbacks in the league, but one of the best players in the league.

The 22-year-old running machine comes up against experience premiership winning Rooster James Tedesco in what will be a brilliant battle between two of the best.

Predicting the Storm to win here and continue its rise up towards the top of the table.

Suggested Bet: Melbourne Storm to cover the 8.5 line at $1.85

Suggested Same Game Multi:
Leg 1: R. Papenhuyzen score anytime
Leg 2: Total Points over 36.5
Leg 3: Melbourne -8.5
Combined Odds: $4

Manly vs. Gold Coast

April 17th 3:00pm

Manly host Gold Coast fresh off winning their first game of the year following a 13-12 golden point win over New Zealand last week.

Sea Eagles coach Des Hasler would have been breathing a sigh of a relief but now he must draw his breath in once again when it faces the inform Titans.

Gold Coast showed its offensive prowess with a resounding 42-16 win over the injury ravaged Newcastle Knights last week.

Given the weight of expectation coming into this season, these are games the Titans need to be winning if they are serious about a finals berth.

The Titans should be able to get the win here but the Sea Eagles will definitely be up for the challenge.

Expecting a close encounter.

Suggested Bets: Manly Sea Eagles to cover the +6.5 line at $1.85

South Sydney vs. Wests

April 17th 5:30pm

The third-placed South Sydney Rabbitohs, rippling with confidence after bashing the cellar dwellers of the NRL in consecutive weeks, welcome the Wests Tigers to Stadium Australia on Saturday.

South Sydney showed the competition how far the gap between the top and bottom is last week after a 38-0 belting of the Bulldogs was followed up by a 35-6 procession against the Broncos.

The Tigers, meanwhile, went down against the out of sorts North Queensland in a try fest.

In doing so, the Tigers were handed their fourth defeat of the season following the 34-30 loss and now sit in 13th spot.

This game will be a shade tougher than what the Rabbitohs have faced the last fortnight but it will be nothing but more premiership points for them.

Suggested Bets: South Sydney Rabbitohs -17.5 at $1.76

Suggested Same Game Multi:
Leg 1 : D. Nofoaluma score anytime
Leg 2: Total Points over 48.5
Leg 3: Souths Win
Leg 4: Team Points Souths over 33.5

Canberra vs. Parramatta

April 17th 7:35pm

The Green Machine that is the Canberra Raiders will be looking to bounce back against the Parramatta Eels on Saturday night after a 20-point loss to Penrith.

The Raiders were simply no match for the premiership favourite and would ultimately fall to a 30-10 defeat which now leaves them sitting in the eighth.

Parramatta was also dealt defeat after going to St George Illawarra bringing to end its unbeaten run to start the season.

The Eels were simply outgunned by a superior team on the night 26-12 and are now left with the task of travelling to GIO Stadium in a bid to turn their fortunes around.

Incredibly, the Raiders have kept the Eels tryless in the last two fixtures at this very venue.

As such, the Raiders deserve the favourite tag in this match.

Suggested Bets: Canberra Raiders head to head at $1.64

St George vs. New Zealand

April 18th 2:00pm

After handing the Parramatta Eels their first taste of defeat in 2021, the St George Illawarra Dragons now turn their attention to the New Zealand Warriors on Sunday afternoon.

The Dragons scooted away with a 26-12 victory at Bankwest Stadium last week to catapult into fourth place on the NRL ladder.

New Zealand, however, conceded a golden point against the Manly Sea Eagles to succumb 13-12 and as such tumble down into 10th spot with a 2-3 overall record.

Coach Nathan Brown would have blown a blood pressure machine with what he saw from his players last week against the less-fancied Sea Eagles.

While there will likely some sort of a response from the Warriors after such a disappointing loss, it will not be enough to stop a Dragons team that look destined to play finals this year.

Suggested Bet: St George Illawarra Dragons to cover the -5.5 line at  $1.89

Suggested Same Game Multi:
Leg 1: C. Ramsey score anytime
Leg 2: Total Points under 43.5
Leg 3: St George Win
Combined Odds: $5

North Queensland vs. Canterbury

April 18th 4:05pm

A bottom of the table clash rounds of the final set of fixtures of round six when the North Queensland Cowboys meet the Canterbury Bulldogs in Townsville on Sunday.

The Cowboys got their first win of the season last week after a 34-30 try scoring buffet victory against the Wests Tigers in round five.

A winless start to the year was unfortunately the flavour left in the mouth of the Bulldogs yet again after being smashed to bits by the Melbourne Storm 52-18.

The last placed Bulldogs could not match the high octane offence of the 2020 premier as it fell to an 0-5 record.

However, there were some good signs for the Bulldogs who managed to score three tries.

Think there is good value in the Bulldogs to get their first win of the season here

Suggested Bet: Canterbury Bulldogs head to head at $2.86
