Tuesday Racing Tips and Previews, 13th April

Wizard of Odd's previews and best bets from Tuesday racing across the nation.

Racing rolls into Mornington for an eight-race card where the best bet come early in the day.

May only be a provincial Tuesday but this is a competitive card with some nice races to bet in.

Giddy up, punters!

mornington race 3

#10 under the dunes

This two-year-old filly was very well supported on debut but bumped into a smart one from the Paddy Payne stable eventually running second with a big gap back to third.

Step up from 1100 metres to 1200 metres should be of no concern and she should make gradual progression from fitness and experience point of view.

Draws the perfect gate where she can be nestled up until the top of straight and then explode with her nice turn of foot.

Just hoping jockey Ben Allen can get a passage free run and if she does, it will just be a matter of how far.

Her sire, Under the Louvre, was a very smart Saturday horse and if she possesses anything akin to his ability she will be destined for greater things than a Mornington maiden.

Suggested Bet: Under the Dunes $2.25

Mornington race 5

#3 paint me red

Paint Me Red maps to get a nice run in this race and steps down in grade after competing in a BM-70 at Sale.

The drop to BM-64 grade shared with his tactical speed should mean he can bounce to the lead or sit outside the lead like he did last start.

Jockey Harry Grace is usually very positive on these type of on-pacer running horses and should allow this Brett Scott-trained four-year-old gelding to stride forward when the gates open.

His fitness will have definitely improved after the solid first-up run and like the first bet, content to be with him on an each-way basis.

Suggested Bet: Paint Me Red each-way at $6.5 the win and $2.15 the place

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 2, 3/ 2, 3, 4/ 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

Mornington Race 6

#4 hummalong

Was never going to win his first-up assignment having to lug around 63kgs when a $3 favourite at this track and distance last start.

Her soul career win came last preparation at the Mornington 1000-metre circuit and she will put in a much improved performance with the nice weight relief.

Draws the perfect barrier where she can just sit off the speed with Jamie Mott in the saddle and hopefully her can steer her to a deserve second win of her career.

Backing her for a straight up win in this race.

Suggested Bet: Hummalong win at $4.8

Mornington race 7

#11 Leggero

This is the easiest race Leggero would have competed in quite a while and she gets her chance to return a winner.

Kiran Quilty claims three kilos off the back of this five-year-old mare who now only has to carry around 53kgs.

With Quilty getting the weight drop, expect her to roll towards the front.

Leggero did not have much of a chance when running in that hotly contested BM-70 at Mornington on Cup Day a few weeks ago.

Drop back in class to a much more reasonable race.

Suggested bet: Leggero win at $5.

Suggested Bet: 8, 10, 11/ 2, 3, 4, 8, 10, 11/ Field
