The second and final leg of quarterfinal action for PSG versus Bayern Munich and Chelsea versus FC Porto takes place on Wednesday morning.
Best best for both ties are in with the ‘home’ teams all but certain to take their place in the semifinals at the end of April.
Chelsea vs. FC Porto
April 14th 5:00am
Chelsea are poised to reach another Champions League semifinal when it faces FC Porto in Sevilla on Wednesday morning.
The Portuguese champions were simply no match for a clinical Chelsea outfit in the first leg of the quarterfinal tie as Thomas Tuchel’s men delivered a double-away goal blow.
Holding 61% of possession, Chelsea scooted away with a 2-0 win thanks to a 34th minute strike from gun midfielder Mason Mount and an 85th minute sealer from Ben Chilwell.
The win continued Chelsea’s unblemished campaign in the Champions League having won seven and drawn two of the nine Champions League games it has fronted up for this season.
A 4-1 win in the Premier League over Crystal Palace following the Champions League win over Porto has Chelsea up and about heading into second leg.
Even though FC Porto have been on a big five-game winning streak in the Primeira Liga, it’s hard to see them reversing the 2-0 deficit.
Prediction: Chelsea 2 FC Porto 1
Suggested Bet: Chelsea head to head at $1.80
Suggested Same Game Multi:
Leg 1: Chelsea head to head
Leg 2: Both teams to score
Leg 3: T. Werner anytime goal scorer
Combined odds = $5.25
PSG vs. Bayern Munich
April 14th 5:00am
It was the Kylian Mbappe show in the first leg of the quarterfinal tie between PSG and Bayern Munich.
The French forward put the French champions in the plum spot heading into this quarterfinal second leg on Wednesday morning after his brace led PSG to a 3-2 away win.
Bayern Munich will clearly have a huge task to overcome the deficit and their recent history when losing the first leg of a tie does not read well.
The Bundesliga champions have not managed to qualify from any stage of the Champions League on four occasions since the 2014-15 when being dealt a first leg defeat.
Amazingly, Hansi Flick became the first coach to defeat Bayern Munich in the last 17 Champions League fixtures played by the Bavarians.
Flick and his troopers are now set up to knock the reigning Champions League holders out of the competition with their Parc De Princes fortress playing host to this game.
At bare minimum a draw will be enough to seal a semifinal berth but that will unlikely be the PSG mindset, especially a team laden with the offensive talents of Mbappe, Neymar, Angel Di Maria and Julian Draxler.
Prediction: PSG 2 Bayern Munich 1
Suggested Bet: PSG head to head at $2.85
Same Game Multi:
Leg 1: PSG head to head
Leg 2: Total goals scorer over 2.5
Leg 3: Neymar anytime goal scorer
Combined odds = $4.33
