Monday Racing Tips and Previews, 12th April

Wizard of Odd's previews and best bets from Monday racing across the nation.

Grafton, Ipswich and Mildura are the venues which play host for Monday thoroughbred racing.

The best bets from across each race meeting have lobbed and it’s time for you to sit back and let the winners roll in.

mildura race 2

#4 perficere

Going with one of the horse’s who has no convictions as of yet and that is the first-starter from the Paul Preusker yard Perficere.

This three-year-old gelding by Proisir seems to possess enough speed on debut to settle handy to the lead and apprentice Tatum Bull gets the 2kg claim.

He is clearly the best of the first starters and is a big chance to get his career off with a win.

Interesting to note that the trainer himself is actually involved in the ownership of this horse.

Suggested Bet: Perficere win at $4.2

Mildura race 4

#8 sheriff's lady

Sheriff’s Lady showed a heap of speed at her only career start when jumping to the lead on debut over the 975-metre circuit at Swan Hill.

She faded to finish fourth on that occasion being beaten by just over four lengths but was spelled immediately.

Trainer Nathan Hobson has now allowed her to furnish and she has the barrier blanket here to keep her calm upon being loaded into the gates.

She looks the sole leader of this field and just hoping jockey Madison Lloyd can converse this sprinter’s energy in order to finish off better than she did on debut.

Suggested Bet: Sheriff’s Lady win at $3.5

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 8 & 9

mildura race 6

#6 french bishop

French Bishop looks ready to run a huge race after a last start failure on a heavy track at Kilmore.

The winner a fortnight ago was the city performed Bianconi Magic who had a picnic up front and handled the wet track, whereas French Bishop was in a terrible spot in the back half of the field and resenting the wet track.

Goes from carrying 62kgs in that race to now only having to lug around 57kgs and gets back onto the dry which he clearly wants.

If we look back to his run two starts ago, he was beaten just over five lengths over 1200 metres but that was in a much harder race at the midweek meeting from Sandown on March 10.

Should be able to improve immensely and looks a big danger to the short-priced favourite here.

Suggested Bet: French Bishop win at $5.5

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 6/ 5/ Field

Ipswich race 3

#5 biz class

Biz Class was absolutely truck-loaded in the betting on her debut run at the Gold Coast last start but could only manage to finish runner-up behind the speedy Bombay Rocket.

She finish a length away from the winner that day after starting a $2.10 favourite.

This three-year-old filly by Zoustar is sure to take improvement out of that run and should be able to find the lead on a track that usually favours on-pace runners.

Has a fitness advantage and race experience over this field having already run a race whereas her rivals are either first-up or having their first career runs.

Jockey Robbie Fraad sticks with this mount and she looks the best of the program at Ipswich.

Suggested Bet: Biz Class win at $2.35

Grafton race 8

#9 mirror model

A three-year-old filly formerly with Richard and Michael Freedman, she will now do her racing under the guidance of Matthew Dunn.

She pops up in a very winnable race for her new stable here after running five lengths behind city winner War Baron.

Expecting her to settle just better than midfield in the run and hopefully she can get some cover around this tight-turning Grafton track.

There looks to be a solid amount of early speed in the race and that occurs she should have the finishing burst to catch leaders napping late.

Looks one of the better best on the program at Grafton today.

Suggested Bet: Mirror Model win at $4.4
