Super Rugby Week 8 Tips and Previews, Friday April 9th

BetDeluxe.Tips breaks down week eight action of the Super Rugby Season

The Super Rugby season rolls into week eight with a season-defining clash between the ACT Brumbies and Queensland Reds on Saturday night.

Check out the bets bets from Australia and across the Tasman in New Zealand.

Melbourne Rebels vs. Western Force

April 9th 7:45pm

The Western Force return to the field after its bye week when it faces the Melbourne Rebels on Friday night in what is ultimately a dead rubber game.

The Rebels have proved the superior team this year when compared to their Friday night opponents and currently sit one spot above the Force on the table with two wins from its five games this season.

However, a little freshen up for the Force may have come at the right time after being well beaten by the ACT Brumbies 42-14 on March 26, but do have to travel to AAMI Park for this game.

The March 12th affair between the two teams was a 10-7 result in favour of the Rebels in Perth at NIB Stadium after starting the $1.68 favourites.

Does not look to be much value at the head to head here but given how close a game it was in Perth, think the market has overplayed the home stay for the Rebels.

Suggested Bet: Western Force to cover the +10.5 line at $1.82

highlanders vs. chiefs

april 10th 5:05pm

The Highlanders produced one of the biggest upsets in recent Super Rugby history with a resounding 33-12 thumping of the Crusaders last week and are now faced with the task of backing that up against the Chiefs on Saturday night.

Mitch Hunt was at his playmaking best in the win nailing three of the four tries scored against the Crusaders and burying four penalty kicks to lead his troops to a 21-point win.

The Chiefs, meanwhile, had the week off after a last gasp 15-12 win over the Blues in Round 5 of the Super Rugby Aotearoa.

Damian McKenzie proved the match winner against the Blues with a 79th minute try to steal the points for the Chiefs as they kept themselves away from the bottom of the table.

Round 2 of this season was the last time the Chiefs and Highlanders locked horns and it was the Highlanders who prevailed with a commanding 39-23 win as the $2.20 outsiders.

The market has to be respected and the Chiefs did start the well backed $1.65 elect despite the loss.

Expecting this to be a very close game even though the Highlanders were stunning against the Crusaders.

Suggested Bet: Chiefs to cover the +4.5 line

Queensland Reds vs. ACT Brumbies

Arpil 10th 6:45pm

This is arguably the game of the round in Super Rugby this week with the Australian Super Rugby title on the line as the Queensland Reds host the ACT Brumbies at Suncorp Stadium.

The Reds remain undefeated this year after a 44-19 win over the Melbourne Rebels kept its perfect record intact.

Meanwhile, the Brumbies survived a huge scare against the wooden spoon bound NSW Waratahs to eventually prevail 24-22 and keep its chances of a Super Rugby title alive.

It was back on March 13th this season where both teams went blow for blow in a stamina sapping contest which saw the Reds victorious with a 40-38 win at GIO Stadium in Canberra.

The Brumbies did start the $1.67 favourites on that occasion which has to be taken into account but they would have to produce a much better effort than they did against the Waratahs if they are to get the win and the bonus point they need to surpass the Reds atop of the ladder.

Suggested Bet: Queensland Reds head to head at $1.70
