Golden Easter Egg Saturday Night Greyhound Tips & Previews, 9th April

Tips and previews for greyhound racing from Wentworth Park ahead of the Golden Easter Egg final.

It’s the Golden Easter Egg Finals at Wentworth Park and a big card from The Meadow ahead of greyhound racing on Saturday night.

The greyhound team has sliced its way through the cards and honed in on the best bets ahead another great night of chasing.

Green light on, bunny rolls, away we go!

Wentworth Park race 2

#5 papi go fast

The Victorian chaser Papi Go Fast looks primed to run a big in this cracking edition of the regional final.

The Robert Camilleri-trained two-year-old ventured to Wentworth Park for the first time last start and was brave in defeat behind Bit Flash.

He was nearly two weeks between runs from his start prior to the Wentworth Park run and now that he’s had a sighter around the course, it will benefit him immensely.

The only concern might be that he is drawn in the squeeze box and could be pressed for room early, but if he can show some early toe he will be the one to chase down.

Happy to take the risk at the current price.

Suggested Bet: Papi Go Fast win at $4.6

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 3, 5,/ 2, 3, 5/ 2, 4, 3, 5

Wentworth Park Race 5

#1 Louis Rumble

Louis Rumble returned to winning form with a very sharp 29.61 over the Wentworth Park 520-metre circuit last start.

He jumped from box four and sprung the lids like a dog possessed to run his rivals into the ground and win by five lengths.

It was his tardy get away that cost him last time he ventured to Wentworth Park but the fact he jumped so cleanly in the win on March 31 tells us that trained Stephen Kavanagh has ironed out his issues and has him racing with confidence.

Returning to the scene of the crime, he draws box one on this occasion and his credentials from the red rug are two wins from two starts.

He has only missed a place twice in his 17-start career to date and look set to make it win number 11.

Suggested Bet: Louis Rumble win at $2.8

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 1/ 4, 5/ 3, 4, 5, 8

Wentworth Park Race 6

#1 prim and proper

Taking on the hot favourite Stanley in the Stayers Cup Final on Easter Egg night and siding with the quick beginner Prim and Proper.

Stanley Road was incredible when busting the 42 second barrier over the 720 metres at Wentworth Park to run a brilliant 41.93  and win running away from his rivals by just over two lengths.

But this race has Prim and Proper drawn to get an early lead and despite running slower time than Stanley Road in the lead-up to this race, he might be off and gone into the home straight.

Stanley Road has never won from box seven in five attempts and he might strike a bit of trouble early which opens the race right up for out selection.

We will be holding on for dear life if Stanley Road gets into the clear late but hopefully it’s too much of a margin to make up!

Suggested Bet: Prim and Proper win at $4.4

Suggested Exotic: Exacta 8 & 1

Wentworth Park Race 7

#7 zulu warlord

Zulu Warlord gets the perfect race to atone for his last start defeat.

He was afforded no luck from box six at Wentworth Park last weekend after failing to cross and lead which he loves doing.

Did a good job to hold on for third in that race behind the smart chaser Fire on Ice and now that he gets a race where he will have space to manoeuvre at the start, he can wind up his big stride and find the rails and the lead early in the race.

If he runs up to the 29.57 he produced at the Wentworth Park 520 metres two starts ago then he will win this by a space.

Looks the best of the night at Wentworth Park.

Suggested Bet: Zulu Warlord win at $2

Suggested Exotic: First Four – 7/ 2, 5,/ 1, 2, 5/ 1, 2, 3, 5

Wentworth Park race 8 - golden easter egg final

#8 tommy shelby

This race is like splitting hairs.

Tommy Shelby and Wow.

They are two of the best greyhounds Australia has to offer but we are going to side with Tommy Shelby.

He drew the rail last start down in box one and was unable to really gain any momentum, hemmed away inside of runners and trying to find clear air.

Once he found the outside and got into clear running he absolutely launched home but was unable to reel in the runaway leader Fire on Ice.

The big factor in his favour for this race is the wide draw.

He has drawn box number eight which will be ideal and he will get all the time in the world to crunch through his gears.

His record from the pink blanket speaks for itself with seven starts for four wins and two minor placings.

He is the best of the night at Wentworth Park and ironically it comes in the best race on the card.

Suggested Bet: Tommy Shelby win at $2.8
