Weekend Racing Preview & Tips, Caulfield Galilee Series Final and Rest of Aus April 8th

All the Best Tips, Predictions and Form Analysis from BetDeluxe's Wizard of Odds for the Galilee Series Final meeting at Caulfield and thoroughbred action across the nation.

Another Saturday a Caulfield means another set of best bets from the Wizard of Odds ahead of the Galilee Series Final feature event from The Heath.

South Australia is also the home for one of the better bets around the country on Saturday.

Let’s hope it’s a weekend filled with winners!

Caulfield race 2

#6 Simply optimistic

Simply Optimistic resumed at Bendigo over 1100 metres with a runner-up finish behind Sam’s Image on a soft track.

It was a great first-up run with 60 kilos on his back and he now tumbles down in the weights to only carry 54 kilos.

Second-up last preparation he produced a devastating turn of gears at Geelong to beat the city-performed sprinter Condo’s Express after going from a heavy-track failure first-up to a dry track.

He does his best racing on dry surfaces and he gets that at Caulfield today.

Draws a very soft gate which will allow him to either lead or take a nice sit in behind if the speed gets too hot in the small field.

Suggested Bet: Simply Optimistic win at $3.10

Caulfield Race 4

#2 She's a thief

She’s a Thief may have been beaten a fair way at Bendigo upon resumption but the race did not favour her at all.

She is a horse that needs to lead and there was a lot of pressure on up front early which caused her to fold up late in the race when she was unable to hold the front.

Gets a much more favourable race shape today as jockey Harry Grace can roll along to the lead where there does not look to be a heap of early speed in this race.

She should be able to cross from barrier seven and she looks an enormous price at $19 if that occurs.

Suggested Bet: She’s a Thief each-way at $18 the win and $4.8 the place

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 2, 3, 9/ 2, 3, 8, 9/ 2, 3, 6, 8, 9

Caulfield race 6 - galilee series final

#6 through irish eyes

Going against the favourite Liquero here and siding with the Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace-trained Through Irish Eyes.

Liquero is clearly the horse to beat but he’s very short at the current $2 quote and there looks to be a sense of timing about this Maher & Eustace galloper.

He broke his maiden in impressive style at Sale last start when charging home from the rear half of the field over 2200 metres to win by just over a length.

Being a son of Tavistock, the breeding alone suggests the rise to 2400 metres will be of no concern and he gets the services of gun hoop Mark Zahra.

Looks the best play of the program at Caulfield.

Suggested Bet: Through Irish Eyes win at $5

Morphettville race 7 - port adelaide guineas

#14 ecumenical

Ecumenical was absolutely enormous when leading from start to finish in the Listed Clare Lindop Stakes over 1600 metres last start.

Gun South Australian jockey Jessica Eaton produced a front-running masterclass after drawing barrier 15.

Eaton rolled to the front at a hot speed and kept her mount kicking in the straight to win by just under a length.

That run will almost certainly have this three-year-old filly ready to peak from a fitness point of view.

The favourite Chica Fuerta may attempt to take her on in the lead and if it gets too hot up front, Eaton can take the sit in behind and find the gaps when they corner for him.

Best of the day from SA.

Suggested Bet: Ecumenical win at $4.2

Doomben Race 6

#11 Deal of power

Deal of Power is a Tony Gollan-trained three-year-old filly who looks to have a stack of upside.

She broke her maiden in brilliant fashion when producing a sharp turn of foot on a heavy track at the Gold Coast to put her opposition away with ease.

She has actually never raced on a dry track and she will get the chance to show us what is really under the bonnet with a lovely day forecast for Brisbane.

Georgina Cartwright hops on for the ride and will get a nice run from barrier two.

The step up in distance to the mile looks to this filly perfectly here and she’s a nice each-way price.

Suggested Bet: Deal of Power each-way at $9 the win and $3 the place
