head to head

april 9th 7:55pm

The Penrith Panthers are set to bash and crash at home against the Canberra Raiders on Friday night.

With the Panthers looking to go one better than 2020 and the Raiders looking to do the same since its 2019 grand final defeat, this game just had to be the pick of the bunch for Round 5.

The Panthers proved way too good for the Manly Sea Eagles last week as they romped away to a huge 46-6 win solidifying its spot on top of the premiership table, while the Raiders went about disposing of the Gold Coast Titans with a 20-4 victory.

A 5-0 start would mean the most successful opening five rounds for any Panthers team in the club’s history but Raiders Ricky Stuart will have other ideas with his team in good defensive form.

The battle between Nathan Cleary and George Williams will prove pivotal in the outcome of the match with both kicking playmakers tied at three-try assists each.

Looking back to last year, the Panthers did a number on the Raiders after blistering first-half set up the 28-12 triumph back on August 8 2020.

No value at the head to head but the Panthers can definitely repeat the feats of last season and easily cover the -7.5 line.

Suggested Bet: Penrith Panthers to cover the -7.5 line at $1.85.

Suggested Same Game Multi:
Leg 1: Jordan Rapana Score Anytime
Leg 2: Total Points over 35.5
Leg 3: Penrith Win
Combined Odds: $5.5

first try scorer

Charlie Staines & Jordan rapana

Canberra has managed to score the first try in three of its four fixtures this season with Jordan Rapana achieving that feat in the 20-4 win over Gold Coast last week.

Rapanda even managed to be the first try scorer for the Raiders in the 30-12 win over the Wests Tigers in Round 1 but was outdone for first try scorer of the game thanks to an earlier try by the Tigers’ Jacob Liddle.

If the Raiders do score the first try of the match we will be firmly in the Rapana camp at a nice price.

The Panthers, too, have managed to score the first try in three games to date.

Brian To’o crossed the line after only three minutes of play against Manly last week with try-scoring machine Charlie Staines coming up uncharacteristically short of tries.

Staines will surely be keen to back into try-scoring form this weekend.

Suggested Bets:
Charlies Staines first try scorer at $9
Jordan Rapana first try scorer at $12

total points scored

overs

Here is a trend for you.

The last seven games between the Panthers and Raiders has managed to go over the totals point scored quota.

The current BetDeluxe market has the total points scored for the game at 37.5 and taking a retrospective view the 2020 edition of this game saw the teams combine for 40 points.

Defensively, the Panthers and Raiders were very solid last week with both teams only conceding one try albeit against inferior opposition.

The attacking prowess of both squads should surely set this game alight on the scoreboard.

Take the overs.

Suggested Bet: Total points scored over 37.5 points at $1.90
