US Masters Augusta Tips and Previews, Wednesday 7th April

The team at BetDeluxe preview our favourite bets ahead of the US Masters from Augusta.

One of, if not, the most prestigious tournament of the PGA tour arrives tomorrow morning as the US Masters takes place at the luscious green surroundings of the Augusta National Golf Club.

World number one Dustin Johnson comes up as the favourite and while he definitely looks hard to beat, we have found the resurgence of a former champion too hard to ignore at a juicy price.

“Quiet Please” The best bets are in!

jordan spieth

usa

Jordan Spieth had been building towards a big performance on the PGA tour and it came at the Texas Open last week.

The 27-year-old American managed a classy 18 under par  performance to break a winning drought which dated back to July 23 in 2017 when he won the Open Championship in England.

It had been a battle for Spieth since then but his return to form last week looks like a sign of things to come for the 2015 US Masters winner.

Spieth made mention of an injury to his left hand back in 2018 which affected his game and may have led to his confidence and ball striking ability to wane away.

However, now, if we take a look at his strokes gained rate heading into this tournament, he has managed to gain strokes on approach shots in 22 of his last 25 stroke-play rounds, which suggests he’s back in a big way.

You could see by his reaction to winning the Texas Open last week that he had been yearning for a victory for quite some time and may have very well disposed of his form slump.

Form may be temporary but class always remains.

Looking forward to watching him do his thing around Augusta.

Suggested Bet: Jordan Spieth winner at $10.50

Cameron Smith

australia

Cameron Smith is leading hope for Australia in this tournament.

The 28-year-old who hails from Brisbane is yet to win at Augusta but finished T2 last year albeit five shots away from record winner Dustin Johnson.

He does boast a second top five finish at Augusta which came in the 2018 edition of the tournament and he now has the experience and course knowledge under his belt to thrive here again.

His last three tournaments have seen him finish T-17 at The Players last month, T-11 at the Mexico Championship and a solid fourth after going nine under par at the Genesis Invitational.

The 2020 Greg Norman medal winner comes up a $29 elect to take out the tournament and while he is great value at that price, the $7 on offer for him to finish in the Top 5 looks a great too.

Suggested Bet: Cameron Smith winner at $29 and Top 5 at $7

Jon Rahm

Spain

Jon Rahm is always one of the main contenders in these big PGA tournaments and there is no exception to the rule here.

There was some doubt he would even take his place at Augusta with his wife heavily pregnant and Rahm saying he would always put always family first.

But with the birth of his son coming days before the tournament begins, Rahm will be swinging his clubs at Augusta.

There will be clearly be an added motivation for him to perform well for not only himself but the new addition to his family.

His form leading up to the tournament saw him finish T-9 in The Players and he clearly has had a liking to Augusta in recent years with Top 10 finishes in his last three attempts at the course.

The 26-year-old Spaniard is yet to bring up a win in 2021, but now with the relief of his wife giving birth and being in good health, it should be the driving force that spurs him towards the top of the leaderboard throughout the tournament.

Suggested Bet: Jon Rahm win at $11
