Greyhound Racing Tips

Thursday Night Greyhound Tips & Previews, Thursday 1st April

Tips and previews for a big card of greyhound racing at Sandown Park.

Sandown Park is the venue for Thursday night greyhound racing heading into the Easter weekend.

Our team has hunted down the best bets on the 12-race program to make finding winners an easy task for the punters.

Let’s spring those lids and hunt down some Thursday night winners!

Sandown Park Race 1

#1 Aces Are Trumps

Aces Are Trumps won like a very smart dog last start when running a sharp 29.43 over the Sandown Park 515-metre starting point.

He easily accounted for Weblec Thunder in that race – who pops up as the second elect in the market – and it’s hard to see anything changing in this.

In his six start career, Ace Are Trumps has never drawn box one and it might prove a blessing for such an inexperienced dog who has had not too many issues crossing from wide boxes.

If anything, we might see him run faster than his personal best last start if he can hunt up and hold the lead early.

A real up and coming chaser who looks likely to progress through his grades nicely.

Suggested Bet: Aces Are Trumps win at $2.6

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 1 & 2

sandown park race 3

#3 fabriola lad

It’s been a horror show in recent times for this Andrea Daily-trained two-year-old chaser.

Fabriola Lad has had not an ounce of luck on his side in his last two starts after being checked at Wentworth Park in a much harder race than this and then being hampered when starting $4.4 at this course and distance the start prior.

If we take a peak back at this last win which was a blistering 27.14 win at Horsham over 485 metres, then he is more than capable of atoning for his luckless run of outs.

The map looks to have him getting a beautiful run through with the dog in the red box hunting up on the rails and giving him a nice cart into it.

Nice each-way bet and with even luck it’s hard to see him missing a place.

Suggested Bet: Fabriola Lad each-way at $5.5 the win and $1.8 the place

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 1, 3, 4/ 1, 3, 4, 8/ 1, 3, 4, 8

Sandown Race 5

#8 Aston Fastnet

Aston Fastnet made his rivals look like snails last start when he bolted away to win by nearly five lengths in a sharp 29.63 run.

We were against that day and there is no way known we will be against him today after such a win.

This dog has oodles of talent and is a Group One winner in the making boasting an enormous personal best of 29.11 for the Sandown 515-metre course.

He clearly loves being drawn out on the track with that personal best time coming from box eight, which he draws again in this race.

If he runs anywhere that he will be winning this by a space again and it will be left to trainer Jason Thompson to decide how difficult of a race he goes to next start.

Suggested Bet: Aston Fastnet win at $2.10

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta 8/ 3/ 2, 3, 6

sandown park race 6

#1 Barooga Smoke

Barooga Smoke ran an enormous race last start when finishing second behind the very smart Zipping Walter last start.

He drew a bit awkwardly that day and it was probably the box that ended up getting him beaten but this time he draws box one.

His record when wearing red silks reads three starts for two wins and a minor placing.

The Brett Nye-trained two-year-old dog also enjoys his racing at Sandown Park having never missed a place from seven starts which also includes four wins.

He will get the gun run in this race and the $25,000 first place prize will be his for the taking if he can replicate his current form.

Suggested Bet: Barooga Smoke win at $2.8

Suggested Exotic: Exacta 1 & 7

Sandown Race 7

#1 Utah Express

Steering away from the Gypsy Yankee and Earn the Answers form line and going with Utah Express to knock them all off.

His last five starts have come against some the sharpest greyhounds in the country.

He has not been disgraced behind the likes of Destruction, Fernando Bluey and Avalanche, and tonight he gets a big chance to notch up his seventh career win at start number 20.

Gypsy Yankee and Earn The Answers have both drawn the squeeze boxes and if there is a bit of argy bargy early in the race, Utah Express will be the beneficiary from it with his on-pace racing style.

He represents much better value than the two favourites at the moment and we can back him each-way by keeping the place onside as a saving result if he fails to get his nose down first across the post.

Suggested Bet: Utah Express each-way at $5.5 the win and $1.6 the place

Suggested Exotic: Boxed trifecta – 1, 4, 7
