Golden Slipper Day Racing Tips and Previews, 25th March

Wizard of Odds prepares you for the card ahead of the Golden Slipper

The Golden Slipper, delayed due to some extreme weather, is set to be run and won on Saturday.

Our Wizard of Odds is on hand to help us find the winners and best bets from the nine-race card at Rosehill

Let’s get stuck into a juicy card from Sydney!

Rosehill Race 1 - Darby Munro Stakes

#5 Private Eye

What a record this three-year-old sprinter is beginning to put together.

After suffering defeat at his first career start, Private Eye has raced another five times and won all five starts to progress all the way through to this Listed Saturday race.

Trainer Joseph Pride has placed him to perfection and does so again here after a 63-day freshen up.

He handles the sting out of the ground as all good Joseph Pride horses do and has had two starts on a heavy track from two wins.

If the weather in Sydney is anything to go by it will increase his chances of winning.

Looks a nice way to start the day.

Suggested Bet: Private Eye each-way at $7.5

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 5 & 6

Rosehill race 2 - N E Manion Cup

#10 dadoozdart

Looks like Dazdoozdart has finally settled into his racing life in Australia after running home very strongly to finish second in the Canberra Cup last start.

The rain forecast for Rosehill will do his chances no harm either with two starts on a heavy track for two wins.

Tommy Berry retains the ride and gets into this race with 54kgs as he did last start.

Having drawn barrier nine, Berry should be able to slot across and find a spot midfield with cover.

Happy to be with him at the each-way price.

Suggested Bet: Dadoozdart each-way at $8.5 the win and $2.70 the place

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 4, 5, 10/  4, 5, 10, 11/ 4, 5, 10, 11

Rosehill race 9

#12 Emanate

While Emanate had every chance to win last start she gets her chance to atone on Saturday with the conditions favouring her.

She had to sit outside Vulpine last start who is racing in career best form and pops up in this race as well.

She did a brave job to stick on with Vulpine to only be beaten a length and now gets a big weight swing in her advantage.

It was the first try at 1200 metres this preparation after a resuming win over 1100 metres.

That run last start over the six furlongs will only bring her from a fitness point of view, she handles the wet going and jockey Rachel King is drawn to keep her out of trouble.

Best bet of the day from Rosehill.

Suggested Bet: Emanate win $4.4

Rosehill race 4 - ranvet stakes

#6 Verry Elleegant

This is a race in two between Addeybb and Verry Ellegant.

In the Verry Elleegant corner for this race given she has a distance fitness advantage over her main rival here and that is a big positive given the wet track predicted in Sydney.

Loved her win last start when he she hit the line hard and stuck her neck out to nab victory on the line from Colette and the fast finishing Avilius.

The win marked her seventh group one triumph and she looks set to make it number eight here.

Her regular jockey James McDonald takes the saddle and we know how well she goes when the sting is out of the ground.

Eight wins and three minor placings on soft ground, while its two wins and a minor placing on heavy ground.

Go you good thing!

Suggested Bet: Verry Elleegant win at $2.7

Rosehill race 5 - rosehill guineas

#15 Montefilia

Montefilia just continued to her improve at each of her starts last preparations on her way to an brilliant Group 1 win in the Champion Stakes (2000m) only to be beaten as an odds-on favourite in the VRC Oaks (2500m) the next start.

Since then, she had a spell and resumed with a pass mark run in the Group 1 Surround Stakes over 1400 metres last start.

The step up in distance to 2000 metres will do her the world of good as it will allow her to settle into stride and not have to chase the sharp horses she faced first-up.

She handles the wet going and seems to a base of residual fitness that will surely test the favourite and her main threat Mo’Unga.

Suggested Bet:  Montefilia each-way at $7 the win and $2.45 the place

Suggested Exotic: Quinella 3 & 15

Rosehill race 7 - Golden Slipper

#2 profiteer

The Golden Slipper for the best two-year-old sprinters in the land is here and Profiteer is going to have a big say in this one.

If you really fancy him, check out the BetDeluxe.com.au $5 on offer for the Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr. two-year-old colt to win the race!

What makes him the one to beat here is his incredible early speed and ability to sustain such a high pace all the way to the finish line.

He was picked off late by the smart Godolphin sprinter and Blue Diamond place getter Anamoe in the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) which is one of the traditional lead up events to the Slipper.

He did have excuses that day with his run coming after being freshened up for a month.

He raced very fresh and keen in the lead, but that big effort should see him settle a lot better in this race and he goes like a jet on rain effected ground as was shown by his devastating five length win the Inglis Millennium back in February.

Suggested Bet:  Profiteer win at $5

Rosehill Race 8

#12 Tailleur

Going with the lightweight hope in The Galaxy and that is Tailleur.

Her trainer James Cummings has allowed her to keep on improving as she continues to race and now she gets her opportunity at Group 1 glory.

Rachel King will ride her and she only has to lug around 51kgs on the wet ground which she clearly loves.

She had had five starts on a wet track for four wins and a second.

Her record at Rosehill is impeccable with two starts at the track for two wins.

There is a lot of pace engaged in this race and she has proven that she can take a sit in behind runners and still show that blistering turn of foot.

Expecting that to occur here!

Suggested Bet: Tailleur win at $4.8

Suggested Exotic: Trifecta – 4, 12/ 4, 5, 12/ 1, 4, 5, 12, 13
