Six Nations Week 4 Tips and Previews, Friday 12th March

A closer look into the third week of Six Nations Championship action

France and Wales remain the only undefeated teams in the Six Nations tournament as we take a closer look into the week four action.

With three games scheduled for this weekend, we have studied the form and have barged our way through the best bets.

italy v wales

march 14th 1:15am

Wales will look to keep its unblemished Six Nations record intact when it plays underdogs Italy at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday morning.

Sitting at the three wins from three matches, the Welsh looks poised to make it four from four.

The sudden Welsh revolution under head coach Wayne Pivac has taken everybody by surprise and, even though they were arguably aided by some controversial decisions last time out, Wales looked good for the win against their arch-rivals England from the kick-off.

This will be a welcome turn off pace for the visitors as they travel to Rome for what should, at least on paper, be a simpler task for the Pivac and his men.

With the option for rotation throughout the match and the pressure off this could be the chance for Wales to recoup against an Azzurri side who are offensively better these days but still totally outclassed by their five opponents.

Even if Pivac decides to rest some important players for the upcoming fixture against France, this will be a stroll for the Welsh.

Suggested Bets: Wales to cover the -25.5 handicap at $1.85

england v france

march 14th 3:45am

France travel across the Channel to face England at Twickenham Stadium in what could ultimately be a tournament-deciding match.

England were outdone by its Welsh rivals in week three of the competition after a 40-24 defeat all but sealed the doomed fate of its 2021 Six Nations tournament.

There are so many parameters as to how the mood will play out by the time England and France take to the field that a result-based pick here seems tough to justify.

For one, we will not know how and if the covid-19 outbreak has affected France’s squad as, with many Rugby Union sides from the Top 14 to the Premiership, effects have been vastly unpredictable.

Secondly, in the likely outcome that Wales beat Italy in the first game on Saturday, England will be playing for pride alone with an unlikely title tilt wiped out by Wales’ fourth win from four.

France will be the only threat with a so-far undefeated two from two record two and this looks set to be a tournament-defining tussle at Twickenham.

Last December, Eddie Jones’ side won the inaugural Autumn Nations Cup in a tight 22-19 result and we could be in for another arm-wrestle between two sides capable of offensive excellence and defensive slip-ups.

Tough to pick a head to head or line result here but there should be plenty of scoring in this one.

Suggested Bet: Total points scored over 40.5 at $1.69

scotland v ireland

march 15th 2:00am

Scotland opens its arms to Ireland as the pair prepare to do battle at BT Murrayfield on Monday morning.

Ireland come into the game with winning form after atoning for its opening two losses of the Six Nations tournament with a commanding 48-10 drubbing of Italy, while Scotland will seek to make up for its soul-destroying one-point loss to Wales.

These two nations last met in December of 2020 with Ireland coming away triumphant after a 31-16 victory.

Ireland will know its fate prior to the game being played as its rest its laurels on an England victory against France to keep its chance of Six Nations glory alive.

Scotland’s tournament is all but over and will be playing for pride.

The one player who can be relied upon to lift them over the line is Stuart Hogg.

He has broken through 14 tackles this tournament which is the most of any player.

However, given its recent win against the Scots, Ireland should be able to make it consecutive wins against its rivals and will be hoping to the keep flame flickering on its Six Nation campaign.

Suggested Bet: Ireland head to head at $1.73
